Bottom station of Pohorje cable car - Pečke (via Meranovo)

Access to starting point:
The bottom station of Pohorje cable car is located on the south side of Maribor in Radvanje. To there we can come from several directions: in Maribor at more important crossroads there signs for Pohorje. If we drive to Maribor, we follow the south arterial road from the direction Ljubljana, through Hoče and at the traffic light crossroad at shopping malls we turn left (direction Radvanje), we continue on the road Lackova cesta and we follow the signs. To the bottom station we can get to also with city bus number 6.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we go towards the west to a small bridge and we turn to the right on a foot path through the forest. Out of the forest we step on the road near the inn Gostišče Pohorka, where we continue straight on the street. At the end, at the crossroad we turn left, on the road in the direction of Pohorje, but only to a traffic sign, after which we turn from the road to the right on a footpath. The path goes past a holiday cottage below Kogel - 400 meters, where a view opens up a little. Over the slope on the right we see a pond into which stream Pekrski potok flows. We go in the direction of the house, where we step on the road, and on the road over a bridge and past the pond, to a crossroad, where we step on an asphalt road and we turn sharply left. The road leads us through the settlement upwards, and higher at the crossroad, we go right.
The path leads us higher and runs below vineyards and through a shorter forest. Near the farm there is religious symbol by the path, and at the next crossroad, we turn from the road right into the forest where a trail blaze on the tree points us to.
The path ahead is descending, crosses a smaller stream, and then at holiday cottages, where we again step on the macadam road, it turns left. On the road through the hamlet by electrical transformer, where we step on an asphalt road. The trail blaze pointing to the left but this path for now isn't passable (May 2014), therefore we turn to the right. The asphalt road which is descending leads us past the chapel, over the "vineyard bridge" to a crossroad. Here, the signpost points us to the left road. The road is winding on the hill upwards among vineyards, higher it turns sharply to the left, where there is also a bench to rest. And then it again turns to the right and the steepness decreases after few minutes (we are on Prinčev hrib - Meranovo (503 meters).
Here a nice view opens up towards Maribor and on the edge of Pohorje. The road ahead leads slightly to the left and it is ascending to the upper part of Prinčev hrib - 503 meters, where there is a crossroad with signposts. From the right side, the path from Limbuš joins and we continue in the direction of Bolfenk-Pečke. The path goes again for a short time into the forest and ascends and brings us on a clearing, where stands bee house "Andrejev čebelnjak". The road is descending in the direction of farm Krajner, runs through the yard in the direction of the edge of the forest. Here we step on a cart track, signpost shows that we are on the right path. From here on, the path is marked. It is slowly ascending, higher it turns to the left, and runs by the slope (by the path there is bench "Metkina klop"). The path starts ascending, on the right we can hear the stream, which we then cross over the footbridge by the mighty rocks. Then it is ascending to the right and turns again to the left and then flattens. In additional 15 minutes it brings us to a crossing, where we turn to the left and we step out of the forest on a meadow below the hut Dom na Pečkah (715 meters).
