Access to starting point:
A) From Kranjska Gora over mountain pass Vršič or past Rateče in Italy and over mountain pass Predel we drive in Bovec, or a little further on the main road to the bottom station of the cable car on Kanin.
B) From Primorska side we at first drive into a valley of river Soča and then through Tolmin and Kobarid we get to Bovec.
In the summer season (July, August) runs every full hour, with beginning at 7:00 in the morning. Last run from D station into a valley is at 17:00.
Path description:
From Bovec, we ascend with a cable car to the upper D station, from where we go on the scree, which leads on a marked path towards Visoki Kanin. At the end of the scree, before first wall, we go right below the mountain walls (from here we already see window). At first little more unpleasant scree changes into ascent secured with steel cables (not too hard) to the window. From the window steel cables on a wide horizontal ledge lead below south wall of Prestreljenik. The path itself is very well secured and is because of this named also "family ferrata" but it is not to be underestimated, because those who are vertiginous or are not used of height can have quite a lot of problems, on spots where the path vertically descends in depth, but well made with footholds and stemples to the bottom. Also in the last part it crosses little more exposed wall and goes around exposed rock which makes everything even more interesting. At the end of the path joins a marked footpath from the saddle and goes to the left to the summit of Prestreljenik. Descent runs on the same path to the already mentioned crossroad, where we continue left in the direction of saddle. We have to be careful not to go astray back on ferrata, and a little lower there is also a turn-off for old abandoned path over the scree below ferrata, which was and is still abandoned because of falling stones. After we get on a saddle we follow cableway and ski slope back to the upper station of the cableway.
