Dom v Iškem Vintgarju - Klada (E6 European long distance path)

Access to starting point:
From south Ljubljana bypass highway, we go to the exit for industrial zone Rudnik, and then we continue driving in the direction of Ig. In the main roundabout on Ig we continue "right" (direction Iški Vintgar and Iška vas), and then we continue on the main road towards Iški Vintgar. When we come in Iški Vintgar, we park on first marked parking lot on the right side.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we return good 100 meters back on the main road to the road bridge over the river Iška. Here signposts for Krvava Peč and Kurešček point us over the bridge and then right past few houses. At the last house, we then on a smaller stairs descend right to the riverbed of river Iška. Few meters we continue by the riverbed and then we get to a narrow private bridge where there is a crossing.
The marked path towards Kurešček and Krvava Peč here continues straight, and we go sharply left on a cart track. The cart track soon starts ascending steeper and on the trees we will notice yellow-red blazes, which mark E6 European long distance path. After the initial ascent, the cart track turns to the left and then runs parallel with the river Iška. Here we walk on a relatively gentle cart track which later changes into road. And the road then leads us past few houses and becomes asphalted. On a narrow asphalt road we continue to a bigger chapel, behind which we will on a tree notice a faded blaze which points us to the right on access path towards the residential house.
At the house, we continue right into the forest on a steep cart track by which we will notice a faded blaze. Further, we are for quite some time quite steeply ascending on a slightly overgrown cart track, and by the path, we will only rarely notice some yellow red blaze, which marks the path E6. The path is for some time still steeply ascending in long zig-zags, and then it brings us on a little less steep terrain. Further, the path runs mostly on a badly beaten footpath through the forest in the direction towards the southeast. Later, we will on the left side through the forest notice a macadam road. Our path for some time runs on a badly beaten footpath, and then we join the mentioned macadam road.
We continue right on the macadam road and we soon get to an unmarked crossroad. To the right leads the road towards Krvava Peč and Mokrc, and we go left on a macadam road which leads towards the village Škrilje. Here we will by the road occasionally also notice red-yellow blazes. On this road we then continue all the way to the first house, which is situated on the right side of the road.
At the crossroad, we go right on a narrow road towards the mentioned house by which there is a sign with the caption »zasebna pot« (private path). At the house, we then go right on a cart track which starts slightly descending through the forest. For some time we still follow the mentioned cart track, and then yellow-red blazes at two successive crossroads point us to the left. Further, a grassy cart track brings us out of the forest and then runs by the edge of the forest on the left side a large clearing on which there is quite a few hunting observatories. Here also a view opens up a little on slopes of the peak Mokrc. A little poorly visible path then turns to the left and it ascends a little to the bench on the edge of the forest, where we can on the tree also notice signs for path E6.
At the bench we continue left on a cart track which again runs through the forest. Further, the path leads us past wood storage and a smaller quarry, and then the path brings us to the first houses in the village Škrilje. The road soon becomes asphalted and we continue there through the village. The path through the village isn't marked, and at the crossroads, we stick slightly left or straight. We soon come to a crossroad with the main road where on the opposite side we notice a bus stop. We carefully cross the road and we continue straight on a narrow road past the bus stop. We still walk through the village Škrilje, at the crossroad above the fire station we continue straight and the road soon brings us to the chapel where we again notice yellow-red blazes.
At the chapel, we go on a dead-end street, and at the last house on the left where we come to a crossing, we have to pay attention. To the right upwards leads an asphalt road to few more houses, straight leads a nice cart track through the forest, and we go even a little more to the left on a quite overgrown cart track by which we quickly notice a blaze on the tree. An overgrown path descends a little, then turns to the left and crosses a smaller stream by which we can unfortunately notice quite a lot of litter. The path then for a short time comes out of the forest on a meadow, where we join the a bit nicer path.
The path then again brings us into the forest where it turns to the right and in descent crosses little steeper slopes mostly towards the east. Further, we still cross slopes on a poorly beaten path on which there are also some fallen trees. The path during the crossing occasionally also slightly ascends and descends, and meanwhile it also crosses two smaller streams. Later, the narrow path leads also through bushes and then again brings us on a little wider cart track. The cart track soon descends a little, leads us through a shorter clearing and then brings us in the village Klada where we join the asphalt road.
We continue right on the mentioned road through the village, in the main crossroad in the village we can continue straight following the signs »Sarsko, Ig« and on the path E6 we continue also to the chapel at the end of the village. From the meadow and at the chapel, a nice view opens up also towards Krim and on Kamnik Savinja Alps.
In case if we didn't organize the transport, we have to return on the path of arrival. To village Škrilje, we can return also on the road.
