Access to starting point:
From Kranjska Gora, we drive towards the border crossing Rateče, but only to a spot, where (in the village Rateče) road in Planica and valley Tamar branches off to the left. The road which moderately ascends soon brings us to a large parking lot at ski jumping hills in Planica. From here we continue on a macadam road in the direction of Dom in Tamar, which we then follow to the parking lot, which is located near the mountain hut.
The road into a valley Tamar is now closed. This extends the path for approximately 1 hour.
Path description:
On the path in snow we go towards a sign, which showing direction of Jalovec. After a short walk through the forest, we soon step on an ample snow fields below Šite. We continue in the direction of famous Jalovec couloir. To entrance in the couloir the path is gently rising, and in the couloir, the path becomes steeper. When we are in couloir it seems, that we are ascending between two skyscrapers. By the end of couloir it again becomes a little steeper. Soon this anxious feeling passes and we look on Primorska side. From couloir we go to the right and we soon notice very clear rift in the rock: winter chimney. Through winter chimney (it can be icy) follows approximately 20 meters of climbing to the beginning of so-called Jalovec roof. On the roof we ascend on the main ridge and from there to the summit.

Warning. Mentioned times are only informative character and to a great extent dependent of current conditions. Jalovec in the winter belongs among climbing ascent, steepness of the slope is to 40° (in the winter chimney much more, 20 meters). On the tour there are several avalanche spots. In the couloir is danger of falling stones, snow and pieces of ice, it is recommended to ascend by the wall. We descend on the ridge and then on exposed traverse to Ozebnik (couloir). In the couloir is a great risk of slipping!
