Laško - Planina Kališče

Access to starting point:
A) From the Ljubljana - Jesenice highway, we take the Kranj - East exit, then continue driving towards Jezersko. When we arrive in Preddvor, we leave the main road and continue left towards the center of the mentioned settlement; from there, we follow the signs for the Bašelj settlement. When we arrive in Bašelj, at the beginning of the left bend a narrower road continues straight ahead, leading to the parking lot at the TD Bašelj log cabin (in descriptions starting point Bašelj); we, however, continue along the main road from the mentioned intersection for another good 100 m to the next intersection, where we turn right onto the road towards Gamsov raj and the Laško hamlet. About 50 m further on, we continue along the left road, which gradually begins to ascend moderately. At the Laško hamlet, we turn left again, after which the asphalt ends and we continue on a steep macadam road that takes us past the turn-off of the path (cart track) to the church of St. Lovrenc and the Dom na Lovrencu hut. From the mentioned turn-off, we drive a little further to the end of the road or a smaller parking lot some 10 meters before.
B) From the Jesenice - Ljubljana highway, we take the Kranj - West exit and at the first intersection continue left. We then drive through the underpass under the highway and arrive at a roundabout, from which we continue towards Golnik. The route takes us through the Mlaka pri Kranju settlement, and at the end of the settlement we turn right towards the Srakovlje settlement. This is followed by driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela, Zgornja Bela (in Zgornja Bela we join the road from Preddvor) to Bašelj, where the main road makes a long left bend, and a narrower road continues straight ahead leading to the parking lot at the TD Bašelj log cabin (in descriptions starting point Bašelj); we, however, continue along the main road from the mentioned intersection for another good 100 m to the next intersection, where we turn right onto the road towards Gamsov raj and the Laško hamlet. Path description:
At the end of the road, we turn onto the left cart track in the direction of Kališče and Storžič. The cart track ascends moderately and after ten minutes of walking brings us to a junction. We continue on the left cart track, which runs out after a few meters. The path here leaves the smaller valley along which it was ascending and steeply ascends to the left. After this shorter steep ascent, the steepness eases and the path brings us to the partisan hospital Košuta. Behind the hospital, the path crosses two successive gullies and then ascends steeply again. The path, which runs through the forest the whole time, brings us to the side ridge of Kališče, where the unmarked path from Bašelj joins us. The forest then becomes sparser and occasionally a nice view opens up towards Storžič. The path then turns slightly right back into the forest. Suddenly, we see a small hut ahead of us, located on the mountain pasture below Kališče. Just a few meters further on, the path from the village Mače joins us.
