Access to starting point:
First, we drive to Horjul (to here from Dobrova near Ljubljana or Vrhnika), then we continue driving towards Vrzdenc, Šentjošt and Gorenja vas. At Vrzdenc the road starts ascending more steeply, then a little further it brings us to a serpentine, in the middle of which a road branches off to the left towards Šentjošt and Smrečje. We continue right on the main road, which soon brings us to a small saddle, at the end of which a road branches off to the right towards the village Samotorica. We continue straight, the road starts descending steeply and after a short descent brings us to the hamlet Ljubljanica (lower part of Butajnova), where we come to the next crossroads. Because in the mentioned hamlet there are no appropriate parking spots, we continue right and continue driving towards Polhov Gradec. After a good 100 m of additional driving, we will notice on the right side a suitable place where we can park.
We can also reach the starting point from the direction of Polhov Gradec and Gorenja vas.
Route description:
From the starting point, we first walk to the hamlet Ljubljanica, then at the crossroads we continue in the direction of Gorenja vas. Just a few meters ahead, we will notice by the road mountain signposts for Butajnova, Planina and Setnik, which direct us sharply right onto an ascending asphalt road. Further on, we ascend along the mentioned road for some time, then the blazes direct us onto a marked footpath.
From the spot where we leave the road, we first ascend along a cart track, then it turns into a quite overgrown path, along which we quickly return to the road. We step onto the road right at a smaller crossroads, where a road branches off to the left towards Kurja vas, and we continue straight along the ascending road, along which we quickly arrive in Butajnova.
Just a little after the fire station and chapel in Butajnova, a road branches off to the right, along which in one minute of further walking we arrive at the church of St. Anne in Butajnova.
From the church, we return along the road some 10 m back, then we continue along the road towards the northern part of the village. Soon we come to a marked crossroads, where we continue left in the direction of Planina. Ahead the road bypasses the last houses as well, then continues in a gentle ascent across vast pastures. A little higher the road enters the forest, where it still ascends slightly to moderately for some time, then, after bypassing the quarry, it flattens out completely. Soon we step out of the forest onto the grassy meadows of Planina nad Horjulom.
Here we will notice a shrine (cross) on the right side, and from here we follow the road for just a few 10 steps more, then on the left side we come to a nice passage over the pasture fence (during the grazing season the passage is forbidden, and even in winter time, when the pasture is usually empty, we take care not to damage the undergrowth). From the spot where we leave the road to the top of Marinčeva planina there are about 5 minutes of ascent on pathless terrain or pasture.

Discussion about the trip Ljubljanica - Marinčeva planina (Hrib)

Thanks for the video, interesting.

Today on Marinčeva planina with fairly nice views around - it has a nice location, especially for Polhograjci and towards the south.

From the cross sign, it's better to go a bit further where the pasture fence ends and the passage is the easiest.

That's how it is in our parts, you can see all the way to Snežnik, Krn, Triglav, KSA.
