Luče - Jelovec

Access to starting point:
A) From highway Ljubljana - Maribor we go to the exit Šentrupert, and then we continue driving in the direction of valley Logarska dolina. At the beginning of the settlement Luče, only few meters before the road crosses the river Savinja, we will on the left side of the road notice a bigger macadam parking lot, where we park.
B) To the starting point, we can also come through mountain pass Volovljek (Kranjski Rak). In this case in Luče we turn right in the direction towards Mozirje and then only few 10 meters after the bridge through the river Savinja we park on in the description mentioned parking lot.

Path description:
Between parking lot and the bridge over the river Savinja, we will notice by the road sign for mountain hut Koča na Loki, which points us on the path which at first steeply ascends on stairs. The path soon flattens, and then continues on the ridge, which is steeply descending towards river Savina. Ahead we pass into a dense forest, and the path quickly brings us to a chapel, behind which is a smaller crossing.
We continue on the right path which starts ascending steeper and steeper, and then it flattens and turns to the right. Next follows a short crossing towards the right, and then we step out of the forest on a wide meadow. Further poorly visible path, ascends diagonally through the mentioned meadow, and then it brings us to a smaller hamlet, where we again notice the blazes. The path ahead leads us past few houses and above them leads in a lane of bushes, through which we ascend to a nearby road. The mentioned road, we only cross, because signposts, which are located by a smaller religious symbol point us on a footpath which is further moderately ascending through the forest. A little higher a nice view opens up on Raduha, and we continue on a marked path, which only a little higher brings us to the road, and already after few meters at the marked crossroad. We go slightly left and we continue the ascent on the road in the direction of Raduha. Further, we are for quite some time ascending on the road which has some marked shortcuts (blazes on this part are very rare), and then we get to newer road, where in the middle of the left turn wide marked cart track branches off to the right. We continue the ascent on the mentioned cart track which higher again brings us on the mentioned road, and we walk there only few 10 strides, and then on the left side we notice a marked path which leads towards the mountain pastures Loka and Arta (turn off from newer road isn't marked). Further, we are ascending diagonally parallel with the road, and the path only a little further brings us to big bench by which there is a marked crossing.
We continue on the right path (left mountain pasture Arta), which is for some time ascending diagonally, and then it brings us to the road which leads towards the cave Snežna jama. The mentioned road, we reach right at the crossroad, where for public traffic closed forest road branches off to the right, which leads towards the mountain pasture Loka. We go on the mentioned road, on which in 15 minutes of a moderate ascent we ascend to the mountain hut Koča na Loki pod Raduho.
From the mountain hut, we continue slightly right on a marked path in the direction of saddle Durce (slightly left Raduha, right Smrekovec and Travnik). Further, at first we are gently ascending on the right side of the ditch (on the left side of the ditch runs the path on Raduha) on the path, that gradually starts to ascend steeper. After approximately 10 minutes of walking from the mountain hut, the path brings us on less noticeably crossing, where we continue sharply right on a poorly visible path (straight Durce). After few steps of additional walking, we will on the tree notice hiking signposts with signs Lanež and Durce over Lanež, which point us to the left upwards on a steep but marked pathless terrain (in fog the orientation is quite difficult). After few minutes of ascent over steep grassy slope, "path" brings us to a grazing fence, where we continue left. Only few steps ahead, a marked path crosses the mentioned fence and then turns a little towards the left (here the footpath is already better visible).
We continue the ascent on scenic path, which past a watering-place for animals brings us into a smaller valley between Lanež and Jelovec. A moderately steep path, which ahead runs through a pleasant small valley, soon brings us on a small indistinct saddle between the before mentioned peaks.
Here we go right and we continue on a grassy slope to a smaller saddle on the south side of Jelovec. From here we continue left and we cross slopes on the right (eastern) side of the ridge. Narrow footpath further runs through dwarf pines and on some spots, it also slightly descends. We will soon notice the peak in front of us, on which stands a cross. The path continues to run through dwarf pines and soon brings us on a peak with a beautiful view.
