Mežica - Uršlja gora (Plešivec) (via Sveti Lenart and Koča na Naravskih ledinah)

Access to starting point:
A) From Ravne na Koroškem or through the border crossing Holmec we drive to Mežica, where in the beginning of the settlement, we turn left towards Tuš store, sports park and a music house. After the Tuš store and before retirement home we turn left in the direction of the settlement Leše. Behind the crossroad we cross a river Meža, after the bridge we already notice first red signposts, which point us to the right. Only a little further, we get to the next crossroad, where signs for Uršlja gora pointing to the left, and we turn right, where we park by the sports field and music house.
B) From Črna na Koroškem we drive to Mežica, where in the center of the settlement, we turn right towards sports park, at the next crossroad we go left. For some time we still drive through the settlement, after that behind the retirement home we turn right in the direction of Leše. Behind the crossroad we cross a river Meža, after the bridge we already notice first red signposts, which point us to the right. Only a little further, we get to the next crossroad, where signs for Uršlja gora pointing to the left, and we turn right, where we park by the sports field and music house.

Path description:
From the starting point, we return to a marked crossroad, and then we continue on an ascending road in the direction of Naravske ledine, Uršlja gora and KPP (path Koroška planinska pot). At joinery Peršak we continue straight on a macadam road which takes us into the forest and it changes into a mountain path which continues by a torrent. A little further on the right we notice a wooden bridge, and we continue straight and for some time we still stay on the right bank of the torrent. Few minutes ahead we cross a torrent, after that on some successive crossings we carefully follow the blazes. Higher by the crossroad we reach an asphalt road, and we continue on the left road, by which continue blazes KPP. Few minutes we walk on the road, from which for some time a nice view opens up towards Peca, and then we continue right into the forest, where we walk on a cart track. Cart track higher brings us out of the forest and then through the yard of the nearby homestead we reach the next asphalt road which we only cross. Next follows an ascent through a panoramic meadow, and then the path turns slightly left in the forest. Through the forest, we walk only for a short time because we quickly reach the macadam road which we follow to the right (left Volinjak, Leše...). The path ahead leads us past the homestead Andrej, and then continues at first on the western, after that also on the south side of Andrejev vrh. Before the homestead Najevnik we reach a smaller saddle, by which there is a chapel (at the chapel, the path to Andrejev vrh branches off to the left), and we still continue on a macadam road.
Further, the road leads past homesteads Najevnik, Danev, Predovnik, to homestead Kajžar (at homestead Kajžar path towards the nearby church of St. Lenart branches off), which we bypass on the bottom right side. The path ahead leads us on the forest road, and it soon splits, and we choose the upper road (bottom leads towards the homestead Krajnc). Few more minutes we are ascending diagonally on slopes of the peak Jankovec (1200 meters), and then we reach a small valley between the mentioned peak on the left and Kranjčev vrh (1227 meters) on the right.
At the beginning of the mentioned valley path towards the cottage Šahmanova koča branches off to the right, and we continue on the left road which brings us out of the forest on some kind of the pasture. When little ahead path returns into the forest, on the saddle between the before mentioned peaks we notice one of rare signposts (by the path are mostly rare, old and partly already faded blazes).
We continue in the direction of Uršlja gora, on the road which starts descending. After the crossing more distinct torrent we get to slopes of the peak Stribovc (1151 meters), where the road splits. We continue on the right road (left "a homestead" Macigoj and Barbarski graben), which continues to descend, and we follow it to "gladovna voda" (source). After smaller permanent source we leave the road and we continue the ascent right on a cart track in the direction of homestead Obretan, Uršlja gora and Naravske ledine. Cart track quickly once again splits, and from the crossing we continue on the upper right cart track (slightly left bivouac Suška bajta 1 minute). After a short ascent, we reach the northern ridge of Suški vrh, where from the left joins the path which leads past Suška bajta, and we continue on a path, which passes on steep slopes of Suški vrh (area named Suški plazi), where in snow there is a danger of avalanches and slipping. Mentioned slopes we at first cross, and then we diagonally ascend and we higher reach the eastern forested ridge of Suški vrh, where from the right side joins the path from the hunting cottage Dukles and area of western capercaillie.
We continue straight, at first still a little downwards, after that with views, which reach all the way to Golica / Koralpe we reach homestead Obretan (Obretanovo), where from the left joins also better marked path from Leše and where cottage Taborniški dom roda koroških jeklarjev Obretanovo is also located.
We continue on the road which behind the gate brings us to a marked crossing, and we continue the second path right, on the path which is ascending and not descending, and next to it we notice a caption Godec. The path ahead leads us without large ascents and descents, and it quickly brings us to the road, where the path splits, and the crossing isn't specifically marked.
We continue right on the forest road (straight on an ascending cart track farm Godec and Uršlja gora over Kozji hrbet), from which signs for Naravske ledine soon point us to the left upwards on a footpath, where we then follow the blazes. When we walk on a cart track which crosses slopes, still before its end we have to continue right downwards and on the mountain path we then cross the slopes. Next follows a short crossing of even steeper slopes, and then on stairs made of logs we descend back on the forest road (to here we can walk also on the forest road). The road, from which for some time a view opens up a little, we soon leave again and we continue left on the path which over a smaller hill "cuts" a little longer road turn.
Right before we return on the road which we further only cross, from the left joins also a marked path from Ravne na Koroškem (path past the cottage Prežihova bajta). On the other side of the road, we short time continue through the forest, then the path leads us by the lower part of a meadow, where we join the path from Žerjav.
From the crossing, we still continue by the right edge of a meadow, and then after 5 minutes of a moderate ascent we walk to Koča na Naravskih ledinah.
At the mountain hut, we step on the road, on which we walk few steps, and then signs for Uršlja gora lead right on a meadow, through which we moderately ascend. On the upper edge of the meadow we cross the road which leads from Naravske ledine towards Križan and summit of Uršlja gora and on a footpath we start ascending through the forest. After few minutes of a diagonal ascent, the path flattens and it gets very close to the road. At the spot, where we get very close to the road where in good weather there are usually also some cars parked, and we continue left on a cart track which only a little further comes out of the forest on a little larger meadow. Through a meadow we follow the marked path, which higher brings us into the forest, where we continue the ascent on the wide path. From the path which is diagonally ascending, for some time a view opens up a little towards Peca, after that from the left joins a relatively new cart track (May 2014). On a relatively wide cart track we ascend to the near holiday cottage, where from the left joins also a marked path over Kozji hrbet.
We continue straight upwards on a wide and well-beaten path, from which a little higher the view opens up a little more, and then the path gradually flattens and brings us into a less dense forest. On the part, where the forest gets thinner we step on a smaller crossing, where we choose the left, a little steeper path which leads towards the summit of Uršlja gora (right path bypasses the peak and leads directly towards the church of St. Uršula and mountain hut Dom na Uršlji gori). A short ascent follows through a thin forest and then forest finally ends and with nice views, we quickly reach the cross on the top of Plešivec or Uršlja gora.
From the top, we can in 5 minutes walk also to the nearby church of St. Uršula and a mountain hut.
