Planina (Dolnja Planina) - Petričev hrib (via Zavrtniki)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Koper we go to the exit Unec, and then we continue driving in the direction of Planina. In Planina, where we join the old road Logatec - Postojna, we continue left, but we drive on the main road only a few tens of meters, because then immediately after the parish church of St. Marjeta we turn left onto the parking lot by the church.
B) From Logatec or Idrija we drive to Kalc pri Logatcu, and from there we continue driving on the old road towards Postojna. At the beginning of Planina, the road from Unec also joins from the left, and from here we continue on the main road only a few tens of meters, because then immediately after the parish church of St. Marjeta we turn left onto the parking lot by the church.
C) We drive to Postojna, and then we continue driving on the old road towards Logatec. At the end of the settlement Planina we will get to the parish church of St. Marjeta, where we park on the parking lot next to it.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we first walk to the main road, which we carefully cross, then we continue the path on the road that continues in the opposite direction from the church. The road quickly turns into a cart track, which moderately ascends through the area named Zavrtniki. For a few minutes we ascend with nice views on Planinsko polje, then the path takes us into the forest, where we notice the first signs for Planinska gora. A few meters higher we cross a macadam road, and two additional signposts direct us to the cart track ascending through the forest. For a few minutes we ascend on the mentioned cart track, then the signs direct us left onto a footpath that gently ascends to the left. A little further we arrive at a junction of several cart tracks, where we continue straight (left downward to Planina past the ruins of the church of the Holy Spirit, right forest cart track) on the wider cart track, along which we notice some yellow arrows (yellow arrows are a kind of blazes). A few steps further we continue on the left cart track, which then moderately ascends. During the ascent the path leads us past several landmarks (smaller chapels or crosses by the path), then from the left the path from the quarry joins.
Here we continue right and in a few minutes of further walking we ascend to the church of St. Mary on Planinska gora.
West of the church, near the forest road we notice a cart track that crosses the slopes toward the west. We head onto the mentioned cart track, which higher brings us out of the forest onto grassy slopes, where it disappears. We continue the ascent on one of the numerous, mostly poorly visible footpaths that lead us toward the west. The path soon brings us to a panoramic forepeak of Petričev hrib (we can also bypass the peak on the left side), from which we descend to a smaller indistinct saddle between the two peaks. From the saddle only a short ascent follows on a panoramic grassy slope.
In nice weather despite numerous footpaths the orientation is not particularly demanding, in fog however it is very difficult.
