Mošćenice - Perun (mimo Kalvarije in zgoraj po cesti)

Access to starting point:
Via the border crossing Jelšane or Pasjak, drive onto the motorway towards Rijeka. Leave the motorway at the Opatija junction and continue on the expressway towards Pula, exiting at the first Opatija exit. Follow signs for Lovran. Drive along the coastal road to Mošćenička Draga, where at the intersection turn slightly right towards Mošćenice. Park at the parking lot in Mošćenice or lower down by the road.

Path description:
From the starting point continue along the road past the Perun inn and soon a sign directs right onto the path. After a short ascent between houses it leads to a junction with a chapel nearby. Left goes the marked path, we continue right into a short forest stretch. The path from here is marked only with K. After about 10 minutes of uneven ascent on a fairly rocky path we arrive at the chapel and church of the Holy Cross on Kalvarija.
Bypass the church on the left and continue along the path leading along the dry-stone wall. The path gently ascends through the forest. Further on the forest thins and we reach a small clearing where the path slightly descends. First views towards the Učka ridge and sea open up. After a short ascent step back onto the marked path to the Christ the King chapel in Marići hamlet. Then onto the asphalt road leading through a fenced settlement. After longer ascent briefly leave the road for marked shortcut back to road and Mihani hamlet. Signs direct right onto path. Bypass last house on left and enter forest. Path gently ascends to road with marked junction. Left on road to Kremenjak, we continue straight on path. After 15 minutes on gentle path we arrive at Votive Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with bench nearby. Continue on path ascending unevenly. Higher path leads left above small gully then turns left to scenic meadow. After about half hour ascent from chapel step onto road which we follow right. Straight marked path to Perun or Učka ridge. From here path unmarked. Soon right branches path to small viewpoint with view of Rijeka Bay and Cres island. After 20 minutes on eastern slope of Perun reach turning point, turn left onto ridge. After few minutes to junction near small pond. Here back to marked path. Right to Učka ridge. Continue on ridge ending soon, few minutes steep path to small clearing. Here info board on Perun sculpture few meters right at bottom of small pine-covered sinkhole. Then past bench with table, forest strip and short steep ascent to summit. Summit view to Učka ridge.
