Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lipce, where we turn left (direction Blejska Dobrava and Spodnje Gorje). After 100 meters of driving, soon after this when we drive through the railway underpass, we find ourselves at the next crossroad, where we go left uphill, on Blejska Dobrava (right Bled, Gorje). When the road soon flattens, we drive straight through the village, where we follow the signs for Vintgar and cemetery. After approx 1 km we reach the railway tunnel. On its other side, where the road splits we turn right, and after few 100 meters of additional driving, we get to a large parking lot, which is located near the cemetery.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on foot in the same direction, straight past the cemetery and buildings next to it, on our right. Soon after we stepped on a macadam road, it turns right and starts slightly descending. The road soon brings us into a mixed forest, where through turns it is all the time slightly descending. After it flattens, it brings us near the river Radovna and quite quickly also to a bridge over it. Just before the bridge, on the right side of the road, we notice a footpath, on which we go, and there by river bank, over a small bridge we get to popular point for taking photos, which offers a nice view towards the waterfall Šum. After this when we had enjoyed the views, we return on the bridge, we cross the river Radovna, and on the other side, we go right uphill (left hydropower plant), and we get to a parking lot. At the end of it, we notice concrete stairs, on which we ascend to a log cabin (in the season bar and ticket sales to see the gorge) behind which is located bridge, which crosses the river right above the waterfall Šum (entrance/exit into the gorge Vintgar is located left from the log cabin). From the bridge now we can view waterfall Šum also from top downwards.
