Parking below Pl. Kot - Velika Baba (Kanin) (over Zg. Brda and saddle Med Baban)

Access to starting point:
A) From Kranjska Gora past Trbiž / Tarvisio, and on the old road towards Videm / Udine all the way to Resiutta, where we turn left in Rezija, then we follow signposts for Stolvizza and later, when the road narrows for Coritis. Here we continue on the main road (we have to pay attention to some side turn-offs in the forest or on a private area) to the end of the asphalt, where on a macadam there is a settled parking lot, and further driving is forbidden with a traffic sign.
B) From Nova Gorica or Sežana on Italian highway to Palmanova, here we choose direction Trbiž / Tarvisio to exit Carnia, then follow old main road towards Trbiž to Resiutta, where we turn right for Rezija, further we follow description A.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we ascend on the road which is closed for traffic and higher becomes paved with concrete to the mountain pasture Kot (to here 20 minutes). Right below main structure, in which is settled agrotourism, signpost for path 731, on which we walk goes on the path by a wooden fence. Past the building and through labyrinth of fences path brings us to a meadow on the left side of the mountain pasture, where there is the next crossroad.
Here we continue left towards Zg. Brda / Berdo di S. This part of the path is the most flat, it runs mostly through the forest, after 15 minutes crosses the main gully, which comes from beneath the saddle Med Baban and then in next 5 minutes brings us on the mountain pasture Zg. Brda (to here additional 20 minutes).
Here at the crossroad we turn right towards the bivouac Manzano, at first we ascend right above the meadow to a water catchment, from there into the forest, where the path at first runs on flat, then ascends a little, and higher again crosses the main gully and is ascending right from it all the time moderately partly through the forest, partly on open terrain, where a view several times opens up on bivouac Manzano and Velika Baba, higher the path turns more right to the next crossroad, where we turn sharply left by the caption Bivacco. From here follows a shorter ascent to bivouac. (to here additional 1 hour 5 min of walking).
At the bivouac path turns left below rocks (a sign for Med Baban / All Infrababa and Velika Baba / Monte Baba Grande). The path is here quite steep and exposed a little, reliable stride is necessary. Higher, we again need to cross a gully, passage ahead is crumbly gravel, then smooth diagonal rocks with little footholds, where in wet some additional caution is needed. Higher, we then on the left side of the gully moderately, and occasionally also steeper ascend, and in some parts path runs by smaller rocky jumps right below them, where the path is narrower and slightly exposed and in some parts also covered with gravel and stones. Right below the saddle we ascend also through shorter groove, after that already in grassy terrain we notice a pole, which marks saddle Med Baban (additional 50 minutes of walking from the bivouac). Here we turn right in the direction of M. Baba Grande 731a. From here the path is even less visible, on some parts there isn't enough blazes, but we get help from some cairns, and if we pay attention we without problems find the right direction and later also the path at first in labyrinth terrain, where we don't gain much altitude, then the path points us right a little upwards to indistinct rocky gully, where we turn sharply right and higher with the help of hands we also leave it. Here we find ourselves in the upper part, where partly on the scree path is nicely routed to the ridge, where slightly below it or on it we quickly find ourselves on the top of Velika Baba.
