Butterfly (Lepidoptera)

Butterflies are flying insects covered with tiny scales. It is precisely because of the scales that butterflies, of which we know more than 150,000 species, differ from other insects. Butterflies are mostly a popular animal that children and other animal lovers like because of their numerous colors. The female butterfly can lay more than 1000 eggs in her lifetime and develops from a caterpillar. Butterflies differ from each other in color, type and size. The largest butterflies can reach up to 32 cm in wingspan. This butterfly, called Ornithoptera  alexandrae, lives in New Guinea.
