Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris)

Squirrel is on of the biggest rodents in Slovenia. Quick and shy animal has its home in forests. It has sharp claws on its fingers and it climbs on tree like an acrobat. Adult squirrel weighs about 400g and grows up to 30cm. Conifer trees and mixed forests and parks are its living space. It eats seeds of conifer trees, wallnuts, nuts, fruit, mushrooms and insects. It mates from march till august and whelps 3-7 young ones.
