Have you checked the presence of filamentous female flowers among the disc bisexual tubular ones around the perimeter?
E. alpinus usually has 2 or more heads. E. glabratus has one, very rarely 2 heads.

The Alpine fleabane is a border mountain flower. It grows on both sides of the border. The flowers are very similar to the many-flowered one. The obvious difference is this - the alpine one has more flowers on the stem, while the many-flowered one has only one flower per stem. The many-flowered one is also taller. In our area, the one-flowered one also grows - it is low and has white flowers - Erigeron uniflorus.
