Alpine sea holly (Eryngium alpinum)
Description:
Eryngium alpinum belongs to the Apiaceae family, flowers from July to September, grows from 30 to 80 cm tall. Grows on calcareous soils, rare, protected. Likes shrubbery, meadows, pastures up to 2500 m. Spiny plant, in the upper part the flowers have a bluish shimmering hue. Flowers small, numerous, in large cylindrical heads. It can be found, among other places, also around Črna prst.
