Alpine thrift (Armeria alpina)
Description:
Alpine thrift (Armeria alpina) belongs to the thrift family, flowers from June to August, grows from 5 to 20 cm high. Grows up to 3000 m high. Inhabits gravel and high grasses. Leaves are grass-like. Flowers tender pink in colour. The plant is densely cushion-shaped. Flowers in capitulum inflorescence, surrounded by leathery bract leaves. Corolla or petal leaves are fused.
