Blagay's daphne (Daphne blagayana)
Description:
Blagay's daphne (Daphne blagayana) belongs to the Thymelaeaceae family, flowers from April to May, grows up to 30 cm high. This is one of our daphnes - it is strictly protected and extremely rare. In Slovenia only a few locations are known. One of the locations is also Polhograjska Grmada, where it was photographed. In recent years it is becoming rarer. It is a low shrublet. At the end of shoots is yellowish-white inflorescence. The flower has four fused corolla lobes. It has no sepals - nicely scented.

There is a lot of this daphne on the slopes of Kopitnik in the Posavje hills - Rimske Toplice - Lurd - past the abandoned homestead at Kapun-Bastič and there is daphne along the entire path to Kopitnik and plenty of other flowers.
