Marsh Marigold (Caltha palustris)
Description:
Kingcup is a plant up to 50cm tall on which a golden-yellow egg-shaped flower grows. Kingcup, which blooms in the spring months, occurs on moist soils (streams, lakes, marshes and moist forests). Insects pollinate the slightly poisonous plant, in the rain however it self-pollinates by means of open perianth leaves (petals), which enable the transfer of pollen grains to the stigma of the pistils.
