Description:
The stem is mostly very short, sometimes up to 10 cm tall. It usually has one flowerhead, rarely more (up to 4). Grows in many places here up to the montane belt. Elsewhere in the limestone Alps, it also grows in the subalpine and alpine belts. Its range extends from Europe to western Asia.

The pictures do not show brezstebelni osat, nor any other osat. This is bodak (Carduus sp.) and it is clearly visible that it has a stem, quite branched.
