Yesterday Dachstein was richly visited. On the Der Johann ferrata cool

there was a queue all the time like for cinema tickets, but the ferrata doesn't allow overtaking, but it went smoothly once you entered the wall. The ferrata offers 700 m of climbing pleasure (or pulling, as you like) mostly D difficulty, the entry part is rated E (brrr eek

, barely climbed it), some of that difficulty in between too. To the start about an hour and a half walk, the wall itself takes about three hours, exit directly to the terrace of the hut on the glacier. You can combine the ferrata with Ana ferrata at the start (easier) and of course the final ascent to High Dachstein itself, which gives a total of 1200 vertical ferrata meters. But it requires strength in arms (really) and absolute absence of vertigo. Return possible by gondola (19.5€ eek

) or normal path, or even via Skywalk ferrata (not recommended, D/E). The path from hut to gondola station goes over glacier, so better check how and what, or have crampons with you, at the gondola station you can also see inside the glacier, currently there's a Simpsons exhibition (ice sculptures). In short, there's stuff to do there not just one day, but a few more. From Ljubljana about 3.5 hours drive (Schladming). Today muscle soreness by all rules, so today's day was dedicated to the beautiful old Kugy path to Plemenice, and the less known summit Glava in Zaplanja, below which lives the highest landowner A. Žakelj with whom we had a friendly chat. Two unforgettable days in the mountains. Of course nasmeh

High Dachstein, measures 3000 m as needed, officially 2995.

After an hour and a half of approach path, ferrata Ana joins from the left (also an option for ascent).

Entry. First a few meters of backward hanging, then about 10 minutes of very strenuous arm work scrambling up the ledge.

View back. Not much photographing possible.

Above you 300 meters of vertical wall. On pegs and steel cable only upwards.

Any vertigo forbidden. Descent on this ferrata not allowed.

Such scenes abound for three hours. And there was no beer and coffee in between.

In my above "report" as Bojan says, the Ana ferrata (Anna) is mentioned. Its description is just published under new trips below /Anna Klettersteig/. It's not quite a fly-by either, as it seems. Anyway nice corner of the world zavijanje z očmi

Yesterday my wife and I ascended Hunerkogel (2700m) as part of a tourist trip. From the lower cable car station we went towards Sudwandhutte and before it turned up to the Hunerscharte path. After initial grass we reached scree and snow fields and in the upper part a short secured path. The path leads to the ridge below the upper cable car station. From there we climbed up on our own to the station (there is also a short secured path).
