After resting in Kirchberg in Tirol, on Saturday after breakfast we set off for the highest peak in the Wilder Kaiser range. Again from Wochenbrunner Alm upwards past Gaudeamushütte and left towards Gruttenhütte, which lies at a really beautiful viewpoint. Especially fascinating is the view of the High Tauern. From there the path leads up to Hundsgrube, which it elegantly avoids on the right side and the path then crosses the entire wall of both Turm peaks and Halt in the lower, more friendly part. From there there is a nice view of the wall of the Turm peaks and the entire famous Kopftörlgrat ridge towards the visited Karlspitze. At the height of Kaiserkopf the path turns right upwards towards the summit. The path is well secured and in the upper part offers two ascent variants. The harder one past the Babenstuberhütte bivouac or the easier one left via the ladder. The summit itself is one of the most scenic peaks. There is not much space on the summit.
We descend back to the Gruttenhütte hut and after a drink go down via the direct variant right of Gruttenkopf to Wochenbrunner Alm.
Definitely a peak worth visiting. Surprisingly there were not many visitors, considering it was Saturday with beautiful weather. Down at Gruttenhütte however there were huge numbers of visitors.
