Today Vinko and I headed to this mighty peak with impressive view from Kulm above the famous ski jump. The starting point of this path is a small parking lot in the hamlet, at the forest. Parking is free. Path 683 is very varied. Through forest, in gullies above tree line, over longer secured jump into amphitheater, above it left into rocky terrain, with easy scramble cca 350m to summit. At the summit, a view hard to find far around. Already from below, from the road, Grimming doesn't leave you cold, up there you'd love to stay, bivouac in the modest shelter and enjoy the view next day too. In this autumn time especially majestic. No wonder they long thought it the highest peak of Styria (Mons Styriae altissimus). Until accurate measurements showed it's Hoher Dachstein. Didn't meet the Lindworm supposedly living there, but saw 2 chamois and cca 12 hikers from both sides. Definitely a mountain I plan to return to, if possible. On return we drove to the ski jump to check if the record is still ours. It is and nicely marked.

Ah youngster, repetition doesn't worry me. Next time from the other side, along the ridge.

Yes, it's something special. Especially the mighty shape when seen from other peaks and of course the view. Of this year's 23 Austrian peaks visited, it had the best panorama. Most beautiful definitely Admonter Reichenstein.

We started the season with Drago on Hochturm. And the higher we moved up Upper Styria, the more interesting the peaks became. Admonter Reichenstein the most beautiful and Grimming the most powerful. Nice conclusion to this year's high mountain season.
