Because the forecast for yesterday in Slovenia was nice weather, we headed to neighboring Austria for some summer coolingrolling eyes
We visited the Rottenmanner Tauern range in the Low Tauern. From the parking lot at the Edelrautehütte hut, we passed by the Kleine and Grosse Scheibelsee lakes first towards the grassy summit Hauseck (1982m), then towards the Rote Rinne gully, which takes you to the rocky ridge from where the path leads to the summit of Grosse Bosenstein (2448m). In snow and wind and at about one degree below zero, we finally reached the toptongue. Our route was supposed to continue to Kleine Bosenstein and then further along the ridge to the summit of Grosse Hengst (2159m) from where we would descend to the hut, but given the conditions we decided to descend back the ascent path.
Regardless, we spent an interesting day in the mountainsbig grin

Here it's been a long time without a visit, or anything written.
On Monday the tour was very nice. Plenty of sun, too little snow, total 6 hikers on this path.
With Vinko we did a loop from Hauseck, Großer Bösenstein, Kleiner Bösenstein, to Großer Hengst. Most snow was between the Bösensteins. That's also the highest point.
To Scheibelalm leads a toll road (8 euros). Pay with card at the barrier in the forest above Hohentauren village.
By the hut on the pasture there are two lakes. The upper, larger one was still in ice.
All peaks are very panoramic. From here the best view towards Gesäuse peaks.
Too bad we weren't here during blueberry time. Slopes under Großer Hengst are full of blueberries. Up to about 2000m.
