Grosser Priel

This Sunday I visited the Totes Gebirge group for the first time. And in one day I managed three peaks: Grosser Priel + one wild peak + Spitzmauer. Now I know why this group has that name. It holds true. Very unstable and crumbly rock, lots of scree and smooth slabs - ideal for slipping.... It was nice.

From this peak, solo direct descent down the west face into the valley to the path to Spitzmauer.21
TOUGH!22

From this wild peak in the background I free-solo descended into the valley. Excellent training for Matterhorn.24

Today's three conquered peaks. Far right Grosser Priel, in the middle one wild peak (I don't know the name), far left Spitzmauer.47

yesterday at 2000 m.a.s.l. aborted the tour to Gr.Priel... simply too hot and killer sun...

started 4:30 by bike from Hinterstoder, up to 1200 m.a.s.l. (alpine pasture below Amaiskogel), then on foot along hunters' path to the ridge above Prielschutzhaus hut (1520 m.a.s.l.), at some spots without GPS track I'd lose even more time... via new Priel via ferrata (SW ridge) to old Bert-Rinesch entry at 2000 m.a.s.l. (several D, bordering D/E, many hard C passages), but due to extreme heat and lack of water used 2nd exit (directly to snowfield and along wall back to SW ridge entry)... from there along ascent path through scree to bike and on to car... temperatures you couldn't breathe

Here spiderwebs have already gathered, and such nice mountains are there.
After Spitzmauer on Thursday, on Friday we headed to the highest in Totes Gebirge. Along the normal route, because Vinko said it's not b...t.
At sunrise, nice and leisurely, after overnighting in Prielschutzhaus hut. Haven't stayed in a hut for years, but they pleasantly surprised me.
After 3 hours we reached the summit with a huge cross and good views all around. Slowly running out of interesting peaks around here. On the way back we casually climbed an easy pathless summit, Brotfall (2380m).
Descent was deep, total over 2000m to the car in the valley. Before the parking at the camp, we turned left to Schiederweiher lake, which is touristy. Mainly for the nice view of the valley head where Spitzmauer and Großer Priel dominate. Consequently, parking is a bit pricier, 9 euros/day or 18/week.
Prielschutzhaus with pathless Ostrawitz in the background. From down in the valley I looked where the access to it leads. 1
Scorched Spitzmauer. 2
To the left of the island is a lake, to the right a camp with parking. 3
Up there, but the secured passage with cables is more to the left. 4
Interesting cave under the ridge. Ideal shelter from a thunderstorm. 5
Summit.6
Deep below is the parking lot. 7
Towards Dachstein. 8
Also to this summit if it offers itself (Brotfall).9
Beautiful view from it to yesterday's Spitzmauer. 10
At the most popular shot from this valley. From left Spitzmauer, double summit Brotfall and Grosser Priel. 11
