Yesterday Vinko and I visited the Gesause range.
We started in Jonsbach at the Kolbl inn, where a free organized parking lot awaited us.
We ascended via Schneeloch (664), where an unsecured marked path leads directly uphill. Supposed to be difficulty II, but in my opinion this path only lightly touches II at two spots. After under 4 hours and 1500m ascent we stood on the very panoramic highest peak of Gesause. On top there's a cross, like on most Austrian mountains.
For descent we chose Josefinensteig, which leads past Hesshütte hut. Compared to the great ascent, this path is still interesting at the start as it sticks more or less to the ridge, but the lower part is grueling. Steep, full of scree and sharp steps. And no end. On the ridge we also reached Gugl summit (2301m).
From the hut we descended path 661 via Stadalma and Koderalma to the valley. Ca. 3/4 hour before the valley we closed the loop.
In the valley we also viewed the waterfall left of the path.

Nice spots, and many hills in Gesause range around Enns river worth it. nasmeh
