Yesterday I took advantage of the nice weather to visit this beauty. In such weather the mountain is quite crowded. Most take the gondola to Hunerkogel, but I started at the lower cable car station and didn't regret it. Started a bit after seven, the path winds past Sudwandhütte, all the time in shade up to the upper cable car station. There opens the view on Hallstätter glacier. Most people come up here to walk on the glacier. Wide ratrak groomed path winds across the glacier to Wartehütte. To the summit I climbed the rocky path, quite some traffic, some up some down. The cable runs practically continuously from bottom to top, rocks polished in places. At the top views all around, plenty to see here. Plan was to descend the western ridge, traverse Gosau glacier then over Steinerscharte notch. Since the glacier looked quite crevassed I skipped it. Descended back, then traversed Hallstätter glacier to Simonyscharte and then to Steinerscharte. Glacier crossing still possible without glacier rope. Steinerscharte definitely worth it, completely different view on glaciers and surroundings opens up. Descended same path back, then gondola to the valley (21.5 eur).

Yesterday's retreat to the cold, quickly, by gondola. The price of the gondola is not the most suitable for pensioners (61 euros return), but it is easier in the upper floor. Nice weather attracted a crowd of visitors to the peaks above the Hallstätter glacier and also many tourists. In the afternoon the gondola ran every 7 minutes. Without online reservation there is no entry. You need to reserve the time of ascent and the time of descent! There were quite a few of them on the secured path to the summit of Hoher Dachstein, but it went without jams. We approached up via the ridge, back via the glacier. And then for coffee at the Seethaler hut, which is new. On the last visit it was still the old one.

Well, read with understanding, to herself. But the names are identical, only a small difference in the description. I like following your paths and in the future also sometimes in your footsteps.

These are two different peaks. From Hoher Dachstein we returned to the upper gondola station and from there headed to the other peak in the other direction. Since I didn't find it anywhere, I put it under a new topic (Hoher Gjaidstein) to make it clearer.
