We from PD Medvode visited the easiest peaks around Karlsbaderhütte on the second day of our trip through the Lienz Dolomites. After yesterday's nice ascent to Sandspitze, after breakfast (starts at 7.00 and included in overnight stay for 24.5€) we headed to the peak that starts the circuit around the hut from the left side. To Little and Big Laserzwand leads a comfortable path that first crosses the slopes of Sandspitze, rises a bit steeper under the magnificent tower Roter Turm, then a sign directs us left. If we turn right we step onto the so-called Panorama Kletterweg, which in 4 hours along the ridges also brings over Sandspitze to the other side and has a rating up to D. For connoisseurs. Today we climbed both Laserzwands, comfortable ascent from this side, from the other just the opposite - overhanging. There are climbing routes and at least two ferratas. We returned to the hut, refilled our backpacks and returned to the starting point where the bus was waiting. As it was picturesquely said, usually with PD we go even when we go down, up and on a 2-hour longer path than necessary. Therefore we didn't return comfortably along the road or parallel forest path, but via Rudi-Eller Weg, which leaves the road a bit below the hut, then rises under the steep walls of both Laserzwands to a gate, from there down through nasty screes, then a bit up again, then across wonderful pastures (last one Weistern) to Lienzer Dolomiten hut. The pastures are already full of golden larches and full of rich views to the peaks in the background. A bit more strenuous return with extra 150m elevation but worth the effort.
