Yesterday I went to Latschur (2236m), Hochstaff (2218m) and some nearby peaks in the Gailtal Alps.

Started at Lake Weissensee and headed to Techendorfer Alm (signs 2h 30min). Continued past Stosia Alm and over Almspitz peak (2180m) to Latschur. From the top descended back to the saddle between those peaks and then crossed northern slopes to Eckwand peak (2221m). On this trail section, some caution is needed as the northern slopes are quite steep, and there is still some snow on the path that sank deeply yesterday. From Eckwand top descended to Mitterstaff saddle and to Kopasnock peak (2087m), just a few minutes' walk from the saddle. Then to Hochstaff, 1h walk from that saddle. From the top descended via Mitterstaff saddle to Karalmhütte hut and then along mountain road back to Weissensee lake.

Saw quite a few animals on the way, mainly chamois and roe deer.

Did a circular tour with a friend 6.6.2010; Weissensee/Ortsee-Stosia Alm-Latschur-Eckwand-Kopasnock-Mitterstaff saddle-alm at 1652m-Moeslacher Alm-Silbergraben waterfalls-Weissensee/Ortsee, total almost 7 hours, pictures approximately the same as yours, nice panoramic tour.

LATSCHUR, ECKVAND, STAFF

We started from White Lake, on the fairly known path to Latschur. We were on this summit in March 2009, at that time collecting summits for the book of friendship. Today we also went down the north side to Eckvand, there's still some hard snow lying here, just enough for Romana to put on her spikes. There was enough time, also conquest of Staff. The summit looks quite respectable, in dry conditions, easily accessible. We returned to the Mitterstaff saddle and descended path 276, which is poorly marked, during the hike we expected a junction to Karalmhütte hut, which we didn't notice, so we decided to descend into the valley, to the main road and along it 5 km to the car.
