Due to the not very favorable weather forecast, we chose the range above Eisenerz yesterday, where the approaches are short, but the peaks have everything the big ones have.
We started at the free parking above Präbichl. From there past the Leobner Hütte hut and Hirschegg saddle first to the interesting TAC-Spitze peak. The upper part was in fog and it didn't look like the peaks would clear. When we were on the summit, where there is very little space, it started to clear until it was completely clear below the summit. A nice day ensued despite the bad forecast. Of course it was different towards the west.
The ridge continues pathless from this summit to Griesmauerkogl and further. Maybe another time with steadier weather. We returned back down and headed to Vordenberger Griesmauer at the start of the rocky ridge. Since the grassy Polster had cleared in the meantime, on the return to the saddle we climbed it too. It is a great viewpoint worth visiting. From there back to the saddle and to Leobner Hütte for coffee. On the way also picking blueberries, which are plentiful here. From the hut back to the valley via Knappensteig Alma.
Whole loop in under 6.5 hours. Suitable tour for a nice weather window.
