Yes, Fallbach has been on the plan for a long time. I was already at the waterfall, but I haven't climbed the ferrata yet.

Very nice and commendable! I've had the first one (Traingerwand) eyed for a long time and I'm curious how recommended climbing shoes are? On many pics you can see hiking boots as first choice for this ferrata. Since you're asking about this area? Have you been to Kanzianiberg? Nice ferrata playground

It's nice with climbing shoes, but possible without too. Haven't been to Kanzianiberg yet.

Near Lienz there are three ferratas: Adrenalin Dopamin Galitzenklamm Kanzianiberg is nice, but can't compare in difficulty to Traingerwand/Luft unter Sohlen

Thanks for the suggestions. Lienz is relatively close.

as an enthusiastic ferrata lover, my husband and I also started going to Austria this year and I have to say I'm more than enthusiastic, they really know how to do tourism, something for everyone, hikers, ferrata lovers and even real alpinists, so no one left out, we've done quite a few already, none too far from home, let me list some, Dopamin, Galitzenklamm, OTK Pirknerklamm, Falken, BGV and Extrem, Luft unter den Sohlen, Kranewitsteig, Möllschlucht, Oberst Gresselweg, Millnatzenklamm, Türkenkopf-Klettersteig.... hope the weather favors us a bit, we still have vacation and I'd like to do some more - lots more in the pipeline, attaching some pics from each

Yesterday was a great day for outdoor fitness, meaning a bouquet of shorter sports via ferratas in Austrian Carinthia, around Spittal an der Drau. For warming up, I started in the morning with via ferrata Danielsberg (70m, C/D), continued with the beauty by Fallbach waterfall (200m, E), then like in an infrared oven across via ferrata Luft unter Sohlen (100m, D/E) and at the end the "psycho" via ferrata Extrem near Bad Bleiberg (40m, D/E?). While the first three seem well maintained, I can really only advise against the last one. First, the markings are catastrophic, worst are the 8mm fully tensioned steel cables. I think people don't realize what that even means. An 8mm steel cable breaks at 3.7 tons load, according to safety standards its allowed load is under 800 kg. With a tensioned cable, the sag is at most a few centimeters, which with the climber's weight means the forces in the cable are right around the breaking force. Practically nothing helps that there are 2 cables at critical points, because one of them (due to uneven loads) always takes the majority of forces. So if, for example, in winter hanging/stuck ice or someone's fall loads the cable considerably, at the next major load the cable will snap at the damaged part. On this section (picture) you traverse practically only by hanging on the cable, which is loaded all the time. In my opinion, it's only a matter of time before an accident happens here, and not because of the people using the route. This route won't see me again.
