Pic du Lac Blanc, 3323 m

Pic du Lac Blanc or Pic Blanc in the Grandes Rousses massif (Dauphiné Alps) is located above the place Alpe d'Huez in France and is the highest point of the namesake ski resort (but not the highest point of the massif, where the nearest neighboring peak is Pic Bayle at 3465 m). Since skiing is not enough, my colleague and I decided one day to go for the sunny sunrise on the top of Pic Blanc via the ski slopes. Nevertheless, this is a very demanding hike, as in terms of elevation gain and distance traveled it is comparable to the path from Krma to Kredarica, plus about 900 m higher starting point than the above-mentioned path. In addition, most of the path is quite steep, in the most difficult total 300 meters the slope of the ski slopes is between 30° and 45°, which corresponds to "hiking" couloirs, especially since snow can be very hard in places. It also adds the altitude with rarefied air, as the target is over 450 m higher than Triglav. In addition, the hike to the summit was nighttime, which means that due to lack of markings you need to know exactly which ski slopes of the branched ski resort to take.

Most of the path (also the most difficult part) runs on the western side of the massif, to the eastern, from where you get to the summit, you go through a 300 m long tunnel for skiers, which is closed at night, but it could be opened. To the summit from the tunnel entrance (the slope is also called Tunnel) you can also go directly from the western side up the slope itself, but it is much more difficult, exposed and more dangerous, and you would need to go with two ice axes and roped.

Alpe d'Huez is a large and diverse ski center, and in addition it offers a huge amount of excellent terrain for ski tourers, as well as for ice climbing, alpine ski touring and climbing in couloirs. So if you ever go there for a week's skiing, it's worth taking an ice axe and crampons too.

More pictures (I wrote the above):
At 3:40 from the apartment1
Somewhere halfway, quite large Alpe d)Huez is already quite distant2
In the steepest part, it is already getting light around3
At the top of the steepest section before the tunnel entrance, around 3100 m altitude4
In the tunnel there are some dripstone formations5
On the other side it is already morning.6
Massif Ecrins on the other side of the Ferrand river valley7
Earth's cloud casts a shadow8
The sun is coming, just below the summit9
Here it is.10
For one minute, the most vivid colors of the sky and surroundings begin to spill over, the likes of which you can ever see.11
At the summit after 4 h 40 min12
Shadow of the mountain far to the west13
Mont Blanc in the distance, obscured by the highest peak of the Grandes Rousses massif14
Back down the same black piste; during the time spent at the summit it was groomed by a snowcat, and the driver greeted us friendly15
The steepest part of the path from its upper starting point16
View back to the tunnel17
Average gradient, that day the piste was closed due to some works18
View back at the last 700 elevation meters.19
The return path was shortened from the halfway point by the gondola.20

And they haven't removed that meter yet? On Friday it was snowing like crazy, we as last skiers of that day skied down the powder-covered Sarenne. Dreamy, especially in those almost Antarctic conditions. jezik

And so not only about skiing, I'll attach some more pics of couloirs, which awakened my interest for some future, some right next to the ski area.
Two 50° gullies (also skiable in good conditions, they are not even) under the cableway.1
Gullies just above the ski slope.2
Long narrow and fully snow-covered gullies in the right-hand mountain (don't know the name).3
Icefalls above the ski slope.4
