Recently it was so nice and fine in these parts that we got tempted and before the summer scorch squeezed in another sinfully good one.
Starting point at Škrebutnjak, a good two km from Platak junction uphill (along main Reka-Zagreb road, old one). Could start elsewhere too, say Ulica Štab, anyway a few km asphalt at start or end of the hike you can't avoid.
From P we went a bit more on the road, then somehow into Glog gully went up out. Glog nicely visible, like on the palm, right before turning left off road to parking. Steep grass with some sharp rock we managed casually, really quick we were on Glog. Further ridge path to Mala Pliš and on to Vela nicely visible, actually ascent direction, this side no paths, neither marked nor pathless, if anything animal trails. At Vela Pliš summit we had to agree continuation, shorter or longer, after weighing daily form, feeling and weather situation we of course chose longest. Descended to forest road, somehow to Mlični vrh entrance, from there grassy clearings to summit. Weather worsened by then, much earlier than forecasts promised, supposed some increased clouds around 2 p.m., no precipitation. From Mlični vrh on descent quickly found marked trail and went some time on it, then again turned off on our own. On marked would reach Treska, from there around also on marked to Sleme, we wanted summit as before, sticking as much as possible to ridge sections. So continued by nose and fairly well hit ridge, higher quite narrow and broken, crumbly, terrain we walked through primeval forest-like. Very old wind-twisted trees, high undergrowth, in places dense overgrowth, everything there, just bear missing for perfect wilderness. Well, didn't miss bear, since they are really locals here we preferred every now and then to yell or whistle with whistle so they would timely withdraw from path if any nearby. On Sleme happily noted that's it, out of summits at least for today's itinerary, best to descend to Platak and there with mug of some or other drink tie the soul. Said, done, through forest with Ukrainian markings (yellow-blue) quickly made it to Ulica Platak and mountain hut nearby. At hut surely could find someone to hitchhike to valley to main road, but decided to continue in sporting spirit and on own power managed those ten km and bits to car. Some on footpaths and tracks, quite a lot on asphalt, where weather helped us since no hot due to clouds, at end even lightly "rained on" us. Really nice trip, at least for me above expectations. Since from summits as usual eyed neighboring summits, very likely return before end of year to visit some. Icing on the cake as usual in Čavle, to our great sadness ice cream case still empty
