This title has been lonely for so long, it calls for a line.

9.3. M.J. and I did an interesting loop. Start at the end of Podkilavec village, then along the marked path to the so-called Western ridge (Mudno dol on one side, Eastern ridge on the other) and along it to Vidalj. From there the companion went to Hahlič hut, I jumped to Fratar and Suhi vrh. When I reached the hut, which operates all year on weekends, we headed first along the 'Preko kolci' path and from it turned to an unmarked but very interesting ridgelet that led back to the start. (pics 1-11)

16.3. I visited Grobniške Alpe again and had company again; huh, how unusual big grin This time the 'Preko čeke' path. In the upper part B.T. and I turned from it to a ridge leading to Dnić vrh. From there we descended via Hahlić vrh, after which the hut is named, and headed to Obruč. On descent to the north side I spotted traces of a large furry creature in the snow. Hmm, if alone, I'd look around twice and head back, but the companion calmly said the bear went the opposite way we were heading, so we continued to Pakleno S vrh and then Pakleno. We returned via Ćunino glava and its southern ridgelet to the morning marked path and back to the car. (pics 12-26)

Both times super, though weather and bear could have been more favorable. I hope that on my next visit he walks where I won't go big grin

Weather forecasts were promising and since previous visits didn't provide views, time to head again to hills above Rijeka. This loop led through Mudna dol gorge to Nebesa, Klek and Crni vrh. Return via V greben (Eastern ridge).

No special features, canyon dry and passable without issues. Patches of snow on descent from Klek, bear tracks on one. This furry one smaller than the previous colleague. Crni vrh ridge, descent route, varied, excellent rock.
All paths in Grobniške Alpe add up km (25 this time) and elevation (around 1600).

Grobniške Alpe don't look like our Alps, but deserve attention. Above Rijeka, less than 2 hours from central Slovenia. Many accesses and some huts in area. Several peaks visitable, mostly like our coastal ones. Paths well marked.

We chose path from Podkilavac village, through Mudni dol gorge, right variant to Nebesa and visited also the black one… Crni vrh smile. For refreshment to nice Hahlič hut with friendly keepers. Prices praiseworthy and don't bring tears. Expecting storm we quickly descended Čez Čeko to start and thanked above as no rain threats materialized. No trace of furry one from previous posts smile. Highly recommend, especially spring or autumn.

Start coordinates (Podkilavac village): 45.403279, 14.470366

More on Mudna dol gorge here… Click

There are plenty of trail signs and the first ones are already at the parking lot1
The direction to Mudna dol is in pleasant shade all the time in the early morning hours2
Entrance to the gorge3
Today's team, all newcomers .... to these parts :)4
First there were some scree sections …5
… then some via ferrata sections6
... and some more ...7
The amazement at the wonders of the gorge never ended8
Somewhere in the middle there is a box with the logbook9
Still a bit of boulder hopping10
Just a little more pleasant shade …11
… and we arrived at the sunny, warm slopes of Grobniške Alpe12
Here we decided to go see Nebesa13
Apart from the view and remains of the former mine, nothing special to us14
We set off to visit also that black one and found at the abandoned logger's hut …15
… markings for it16
Črni vrh is by no means easy. Athletic skills are more than welcome17
Without markings it would be somewhat harder to find the right way18
And we're at the summit19
We continue in that direction towards koča Hahlič20
Signs for two huts. Ours is the right one21
After the descent from Črni vrh the path goes partly over tiring macadam, partly on paths22

Dnič is the house hill of koča Hahlič26
Very pleasant hut with even more pleasant prices. Four good coffees and three even better beers were 10 €27
We descended *Preko Čeke*28
The path runs along the valley floor and is nicely marked29
There are quite a few *Austrian* markings too :)30

Effective, visible from afar32

Yesterday on the path Podkilavac - Mudna dol - Vidalj - Dnič - Fratar - Suhi vrh - Hahlič - Čunina glava - Kolci.
All paths are nicely marked and normally passable.
It was a nice sunny day, pleasantly cool in the gorge, already quite hot on the peaks, solitary walk through the landscape where horses graze freely, the view constantly drifting towards the sea ...nasmeh
since the last visit they have nicely arranged it1
