Hum (the smallest town in the world) - Ročko polje - hill/viewpoint church of St. Thomas above Ročko polje - Roč - Kotli - Hum - (half-day circular cycling trip)

If you're on vacation somewhere in the northern part of Istria and get tired of lounging by the sea, such a trip is very welcome on a cloudier and not too hot day. Of course you can do this route by car, but you'll experience and explore all the sights and natural beauties along the way better and more authentically by bike.

This part of so-called Gray Istria is surprisingly hilly, there are quite a few ups and downs, but the roads are nice and fairly traffic-free. Hum is really worth a visit, as is the place Kotli, where the Mirna river has created unique geomorphological features in the karst world (canyons, waterfalls and pools) and if you add some cultural history along the Glagolitic Alley from Roč to Hum (beginnings of Croatian literature and written word), the trip will surely imprint in your nice memory for long. All together about 25 km of interesting cultural-historical route.

Important: In summer and dry periods there is very little water in Kotli or the river dries up completely.
Viewpoint - the hill with the church of St. Thomas above Ročko polje is unfortunately overgrown by forest, approx. 1 km climb to the church is very steep and gravel (not for road race bikes).
