On Saturday I climbed Ivančica again, (H. Zagorje). Usually I go up via Konj, down via Zgano vino-Mrzljak. I heard there is another path supposed to be easier, called pionirska pot. In the hut I got info that the path isn't suitable for descent, but still I descended via this path.
I found out this path isn't easier but probably the hardest approach to Ivančica summit. Three quarters of the path on ascent is very steep and exposed in many places, very slippery when wet, almost no markings, here and there some 30-40 year old mark, but path is well traceable.
Don't know who maintains paths on Ivančica, guess PD Ivanec or planinarski klub Ivanec. Hope someone from those societies reads this and gives detailed info on this path.
Maybe this path is abandoned?
My advice: Don't go in winter time or if it's rainy and slippery; I don't recommend descent on this path.

Hi Zdomec,
pioneer path is not abandoned and many hikers use that path. I don't pay attention to marks because the path as you say is easy to follow. Maybe physically the hardest but to me also the most beautiful.
Easiest (also longest) path for ascent and descent is path via crossroads. Circles Ivanščica from north via east to south and crosses with pioneer some cca 10 min from top.
On Saturday I descended via Konj around 11 and passed a Slovene. Was that you?

On Sunday New Year's Eve we wanted to spend and welcome new year on top of Ivanščica. We were very disappointed, Pasarić hut was closed. Late evening more and more hikers coming, expected someone of keepers would come and open hut. Waited in vain. Gathered ca. 100 hikers, very strong wind, atmosphere fitting. For New Year's Eve huts usually open, keeper expects good profit if properly organizes and prepares food and drink. Why Pasarić hut closed, can someone explain?
Some hikers grumbled mentioning hut has new keeper!? Doesn't he go for profit?

Unfortunately the new caretaker really doesn't listen to hikers' needs and seems to me like he's lost in that world.
He sticks to working hours and literally chases people out if they're still inside, which is really sad.
I don't understand why he took that hut on lease or whatever, if he's not interested in earning and serving hikers those two weekend days and maybe some holiday, because on Ivančica weekends are really always full of people mostly hikers, but also those who just came a bit to nature.
During old caretaker the hut was always open as long as needed.

Things aren't so black and white. The hut wasn't always open for New Year even before. Only when some group gathered up there and celebrated in an organized manner.

Hiking trails on the northern side of Ivanščica are marked by HPD Ivančica from Ivanec. Currently there are three paths from that side. Path via Konj, Mrzljak and Prekrižje. For the Pioneer path over Stričec ridge a few years ago it was decided not to mark it anymore for preserving valuable protected flora. That decision in my opinion has no purpose because the path is well trodden and follows the ridge so there is no orientation problem, hikers still use it in large numbers. It is considered the hardest and most beautiful hiking path on Ivanščica.
Regarding New Year's Eve 31.12.2017, the warden announced working hours two weeks earlier saying the hut works till 16:00 that day and then again on New Year from 7:00. Everyone who comes to Ivanščica on Sundays and holidays in recent years is aware of the crowd in the hut those days. The warden says the hut is closed on NYE night and doesn't organize New Year welcome because he wouldn't manage to clean and prepare for a large number of hikers on New Year's morning.
We also welcomed New Year on Ivanščica summit, we asked around and knew the hut would be closed, prepared for the forecasted wind and in the end we had a good time.
As Michelangelo says, not everything is black and white. It's been more than 10 years since I came to Pasarićev dom on Ivanščica on Sunday due to the big crowd. We often come Saturday evening when the hut is empty, the warden is exceptionally kind and has never chased us out though we often stay past 22:00.

Those two posters with opening and operating times remind me of an ordinary tavern, not a mountain hut.
How is it with overnight stays in Pasaričev dom?
Is it possible to overnight at all? Here I mean weekends when the hut is open and operates. It is good to know for the future to avoid unpleasant surprises.

That applies only to New Year holidays, otherwise the hut is open every weekend from Friday at 15:00 to Sunday at 16:00. It is possible to arrange for the hut to open during the week too. In the attic there are two rooms with shared bunks for 20 persons each. Discount also applies to PZS members. If you avoid the Sunday crowd, usually from 9:00 to 13:00 it is very pleasant in the hut, the warden is friendly and the service is excellent. As I said, I avoid Sundays, I come exclusively on Saturdays. On Sundays I usually visit other huts on Ivanščica that not many people visit. In the hut at Majer under Oštrcgrad the warden is Dragec who was previously the warden in Pasarićev dom. It is also pleasant there with excellent service. The fastest way to Majer is via the path over Mrzljak and at Grobek continue straight (there is a sign). The hut at Belecgrad is also pleasant but only drinks are served, it is open only on Sundays. It is located on the southern side at the foot of Ivanščica. You can reach it also via Mrzljak and at Črnim Mlakama turn towards Beligam. Good luck on Ivanščica.
