Probably there are people who might be interested in the ascent to Lišanj Peak, the second highest peak in Croatia, so here is the route description and a couple of photos from the ascent to this peak. More photos and GPS tracklog can be found on the following links: Photos: http://www.planinarenje.net/forum/showthread.php?357 Photos + GPS tracklog: http://www.planinarenje.net/forum/showthread.php?336 On Thursday, June 24, 2011, I decided to visit Rupe and Lišanj Peak, all on the occasion of the opening of the new hiking shelter made by PU Dinaridi. The approach to the ascent on Lišanj Peak is easy and marked with hiking markers that are almost impossible to miss. When coming from the Split direction in Vrlika, pass the entrance to the Kosor working zone and at the next turn turn right from where you just follow the marks along the road. First you must pass by the Cetina water pumping station, then by the church of Sv. Spasa, the source of the Cetina river, then turn onto the gravel road to the quarry and somewhere halfway you see the mark to the Rupe shelter. Park the car there and continue on the hiking trail. The ascent to the Rupe hiking shelter is very simple and extremely easy so it can be done without major problems in less than two and a half hours. The first small part of the path goes partially through the forest so that after about 20 minutes of walking the forest stays behind us, replaced by grassy areas where in the past lots of livestock grazed but today unfortunately no one has the will for such work. The path itself ascends gently almost entirely except near the shelter where a small part is a bit steeper but nothing scary. From Rupe towards Lišanj Peak there are three still unmarked paths. The first is the direct path with great steepness which is the fastest but also the hardest. The second, which follows the winter markers (stakes), is milder but therefore a bit longer, and the third is the longest but therefore the easiest. Since I took the third path I will describe it. At the very beginning the second and third paths overlap but after the third winter marker, turn slightly right towards the old road that in the past connected Bosnia and Croatia, which is already visible in the distance, and then, when you reach the road, go gently towards the ridge and then along the ridge top to Lišanj Peak. Ascent from Rupe shelter to Lišanj Peak takes about an hour and a half. Elevation gain from path start to summit is a bit less than 1300m. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
