Hi, I'm interested in visiting Risnjak national park and of course the highest peak V. Risnjak. Has anyone been up there recently, and what's the road from Crni Lug onwards like? Is the hut already open? Thanks and best regards, Sonja

From Crni Lug onwards no road, need to walk.. approx. 2 and a half hours to the hut.. snow now just a sample, still some patches... easiest approach from Gornje Jelenje (gravel approx. 7 km and another hour footpath)

From Crni Lug about 3.5 hours - not 2.5 (of course if not running in mountains). And also, pictures from last part of path if going from Gornje Jelenje you can see at: http://picasaweb.google.com/davor.bistra/Risnjak# I especially emphasize that it is still very possible to have lots of snow and ice on section from pic 4 to 6 in shade, facing north and - when snowy - quite exposed. Enjoy and safe path.

How much time did you need for this circular path?

this circular path takes approx 5-6 hours of moderate (easy) walking, with breaks. nature is beautiful, not for running

From Motel Bele Vode to the hut my colleague and I walked two hours ten minutes with small breaks, from the hut to the summit approx ten minutes. Descent to the valley along Horvatova path, which is a bit longer, took one hour fifty-four minutes.

A bit different and elsewhere, one would say. We visited the Risnjak massif besides the participants of the Gorski tek na Risnjak with PD Medvode. Nice views are offered from the highest peak (1528 m) with a view on Kvarner Bay, Istria, islands and even the Alps. We started from the Crni lug direction (national park administration), to which we came via border crossing Babno Polje, climbed the Horvat trail first to the hut and then to the top, then descended the other side towards Platak (also known as ski slope). We abandoned the somewhat longer variant that would include Snježnik due to something between a shower and a thunderstorm that accompanied us for about an hour, but still for the path with rests we spent around six hours, made about 1000 m elevation gain, which we collected slowly and persistently so the length accumulated too. Nice corner above the sea, for all ages.

Very interesting hike, suitable for an introduction to the summer season. How nicely Tito's bridge is visible, crazy!

One mistake, highest peak of Gorski Kotar is not Risnjak (1528m) but Bjelolasica (1533m) Nice loop you made

From Crni Lug to the top of Risnjak exactly 3h. Back 2 and a half hours. The hut is unfortunately abandoned. From the hut to the top a bit of climbing and cables. Lp
