We started this Sunday on the circular path past the summit in the far eastern part of Medvednica from an almost full parking lot near the little church of St. George in the village Planina Donja. Due to road works we had to go there through the "hilly" part of the village, currently easier access to the church (and other suitable parking spots) is a detour through the neighboring village Planina Gornja.
We encountered the first sign to the mountain hut Lipa – Rog under the church, along the road where the marked path goes, we saw even more parked cars, indicating lots of hikers. At the junction where path No. 31 goes straight to the hut, we headed onto the cart track with path No. 28, which took us along the track to the north side of the hill. After the turnoff to path No. 32 the real ascent began. Soon the marked trail led into a steep incline that was occasionally pretty tough. The north side "provided" good slipperiness on the trail  (despite longer dry period), besides the steep hill slope there were damp roots, leaves, rocks and dirt - ascent definitely recommended over descent on this path. Somewhere on the third of the slope the cave Velika Peć awaited us, past it the path climbed to an exposed but secured ledge that brought us near the ridge, along which we still steeply continued south. When we reached a small viewpoint, the steepness and difficulty ended. Not far to Rog summit anymore (no marked path to it), which due to overgrowth has no view, more panorama could be enjoyed from the small tower above the mentioned hut Lipa – Rog. After tasty snack in the hut we mistakenly went down towards Sesvete (instead of mentioned No. 31), but later turned timely onto path No. 28 in the right direction to start, detour wasn't too long.
Initially clear sky later covered by clouds, warm February weather spoiled by occasional stronger wind. Interesting "slopes" on the edge of Croatian Zagorje.
