On Friday tour Platak-Snježnik-Guslica-Platak. Some small snow found only in shady spots and forest valleys but the path is completely dry. Altogether a bit more than 3h walking.

In the Snežnik area itself no consequences were visible, while along the road from Delnice to Gornje Jelenje there were areas where practically no tree was without a broken top.

On Friday near the foot of Snežnik. First stop to view Snežnik town and carriage museum. Follows drive from Koritnice to Mašun on gravel road ca 20 km. On this path we saw what the ice did. In lowlands huge fallen trees, higher up almost all spruces have broken tops........ just before Mašun forests look devastated, like a bomb was dropped. Followed viewing Mašun forest path to bear den and Anina skala view from which Snežnik nicely visible, still in snow. At this height (1025 m) no more ice damage visible, as inversion did its and prevented extra damage. Return home to Styria in dark. Team decided to tackle Snežnik within 14 days. nasmeh

panda, small correction
Snježnik is in Croatia, Snežnik is Slovenian. Didn't fully get that drive from Koritnice to Mašun. If at Snežnik castle, continue on gravel to Mašun ca 20km through Leskova valley. Probably save quite some time and kms. lp

Yesterday members of PD Škofja Loka with the mountaineering section of ŠD Savatech Kranj went to Gorski Kotar in Croatia. We drove to Reka and actually from Reka along a nice wide asphalted road to the Platak ski resort at 1100m. At the parking lot above the nice guesthouse we left the bus and immediately after the parking lot set off on the path. We went the Kroz Grlo path. It takes about an hour through marked forest trails. They are somewhat eroded in places, so you have to be careful not to stray. You really have to follow the marks on stones, trunks and rocks. When we came out of the forest, we suddenly found ourselves under Snježnik. Here there is an abandoned mountain hut - a real shame. Past the steel cable and a bit of climbing before the summit, the path leads to the panoramic wide summit of Snježnik. There is also a stamp on one rock. You can see far around, Reka and the sea. Everywhere is blue - huge amounts of Clusius primrose blooming around the summit. Already before the summit and then on the descent there are lots of narcissus. Then we headed to the neighboring summit Guslica, where there is a huge abandoned military facility at the top with abandoned surveillance equipment and underground parts - fascinating. They even had a road leading up there. Then we descended the steep southern slope. That was the most unpleasant part of the path. We also went to the adjacent summit Planina. You have to climb quite a bit over rocks to get there. Now a long hike back to Platak to the guesthouse for a well-deserved beer.
Near Reka we spot the sea from the bus.1

Platak - we started from here.3
We went along the path -Kroz Grlo-.4
To our first peak Snježnik the path runs almost entirely on forest paths.5
We weren't hot.6
The first green hilltops appear.7
And a bit of scrambling too - the weather is wonderful.8
Below the summit of Snježnik.9
The hut is unfortunately abandoned - a pity.10
Apparently it burned a few years ago.11
In front of the hut there are even steel cables.12
They covered it makeshift.13
Behind the hut a bit over rocks to the top.14
Here we are. Stamps are everywhere on these peaks. Unfortunately no summit registers.15
Touch of blue at the summit-beautiful experience.16
On the spacious summit there is plenty of space for rest.17
View over nearby hillocks.18

We descend from Snježnik and go towards Guslica.20

Today all that is abandoned, including a huge stone building.26
Let's go to the rocky peak near Guslice-Planino.27
We take a photo at the top of our third peak - all three are around 1500m high.28

Along well-marked path from Platak over Grlo to Snježnik and along ridge path past Rimska vrata back to Platak. This circular path - except final ascent from Grlo and ridge - runs through forest.
Views a bit poorer due to cloudiness, rain wasn't much..
Path through mostly beech forest1
The usual upward path is along the ridge, we turned to the path over Grlo2

On the path Platak - Risnjak - Lazac - Srebrna vrata - Snježnik - Guslica - Platak.
