Third time's the charm - I went for the third time this year with PD Rašica Ljubljana and can confirm they have good mountain tours in the program. This time the main guide took us to a three-thousander of the High Tauern - Brennkogel - 3016m. This was my fifth three-thousander of the High Tauern. A sixth was planned but the path to it was too dangerous. We drove along the beautiful alpine road to the starting point at Kasereck. To the Hochtor tunnel - 2504m we went across pastures along this road. From the tunnel our real tour began. We had nice weather. The path is nice - well marked, full of ups and downs and finally you see the sharp peak of Brennkogel but the little path through these rocks is nicely routed so no problems. Up there it was quite cold and a bit windy. After not too long sitting on the top we descended from the top and headed to the marked path to our second three-thousander - Spielmann. Unfortunately we had to end quite soon because the guides realized that with increasingly more snow on the path the way ahead was too dangerous without winter gear - crampons, ice axe. We carefully descended to the tunnel where we waited for transport.
