Nice trip above Naborjet, along old military paths. The path starts in Naborjet at the church. Up the Way of the Cross to the upper chapel and there climb from the road into the forest. Then it continues on a very steep path to the ridge and beyond it to the saddle, where there is a junction. Left goes the path to Stabet, straight down to fort Hensel and Ukvam, we go right to the nearby peak. Despite being wooded, it offers nice views of Naborjet mountains across the valley. At the top there are plenty of ruins to check out, the path itself is secured with rope in places. Descent to the saddle was the same path, there we with princess continued the trip towards fort Hensel. This trail was also very steep up top, but less tiring than the previous one as it led downhill. Somewhere halfway we found a nice nook, rested a bit, then quickly made it to the fort above the tunnel on Pontebbana between Ukvams and Naborjet. After check-out we continued on the old road to the main road and saw the monument on the other side, then returned to the car via meadows. About the trip we did, something is written here:

Hi, you're still here nasmeh. I remember that more than 10 years ago in one project (not PD CAI) I marked red dots on part of the trail from pic 20 to 24 because we marked up to the road bend for Stabet, on the ascent trail because you did it and some of our unknown?? volunteers already then marked with white-red letters like CAI trails, but this isn't and never was a CAI trail, so they confuse zmeden the hiker eek because on Tabacco map 019 they don't see this trail drawn with CAI sign. This also happens/does with us, officially we don't help mark real trails mrk pogled but do our own thing anyway.... I wish you nice wanderings further. nasmeh

Alessio, hi, nice trails in your area, that's why I keep coming back.

Years ago (2015) I went to Stabet from Ukev and almost got lost above pasture Mecesnik (Malga Mezesnik), because there was no signpost by the road. This spring I'll head to Stabet from Naborjet on this military path and from saddle Buchkopf Sattel continue to the summit, then descend to Ukve and go from there on the old road back to Naborjet.

Shame that on the "Grande Guerra Fort Hensel - Sentiero dei soldati" trail the signs and panels have descriptions only in German and Italian, not also in Friulian and Slovenian mežikanje

Nice mountain trails to you too further nasmeh

To Malga Mezesnik they stole my CAI trail 504A signposts twice over the years (I put them right at the trail start at the beginning of the pasture so as not to disturb but... jezen); I agree with you on the lack of languages - at least in English if not others - but as I say, pity everyone does their own thing especially in this project because they probably invested quite some money mrk pogled; I got lost years ago from the road bend at 1338 on the unmarked old trail towards Malga Priu or Mezesnik, followed part of it and then had to go straight up into the unknown forest to the road under Stabet, approximately jumped out at the bend at 1480, maybe if I had gone in reverse from Ukve on path 504A since the fork is visible it would have been better, God knows. mežikanje

Alessio, from Ukve to Malga Mezesnik it was nicely marked - CAI 504a. From "shed" above the pasture to summit no markings, went on road to end then on path in forest, here and there some "strip" on branches or "blob" on tree. Now can't wait to go up from Naborjet, down to Ukve I'll find nasmeh
Like this it was in 2015:
above Ukve marking on tree, then pasture and summit - from pasture to summit no marking zavijanje z očmi

When we were driving towards the tunnel between Ukve and Naborjet last time (20 km from the border), we didn't think we'd be so quickly at fortress Fort Hensel, which appears on top of the tunnel. And more, we did a loop on the old military path. We started before the tunnel, returned to the nice place Naborjet and then behind the place and on old road past ponds under main road back to start. As usual, very satisfied this time too nasmeh!

ločanka,
"ponds" are some sort of "fish farm", there's a cool tavern there, trout is of course the specialty, plenty of other goodies too, locals of course. Yum nasmeh

Anyway, extremely pleasant surroundings here. Worth stopping even en route. Rio Argento is also the name of the stream that flows here and empties into Bela. Maybe it feeds exactly these ponds. Next time maybe lunch with little fishnasmeh!

Weather forecast didn't promise much; before I drove off from home, it was even raining in Rateče, Trbiž and Višarje. Trail from Naborjet up and out steep all the way, vegetation along the path soaked, I soon drenched. Up to the knees; if I had stepped into fern, I would have been waist-deep. Below past chapels on God's path and nice little church, then beautiful pine forest in vivid green shades, then beech and more, and already at ruins and soon after on summit. Below summit greet chamois, actually surprise each other; even before I politely greeted it, it was gone. Views from top as far as the eye reaches, plenty to see, up and down the valley and peaks beyond. Descent same path, a bit here and there around Naborjet, also peek into church, and wandering done. For some things they say "short and sweet", which fits today perfectly nasmeh

Park at church, free of course, peek at shelf at museum entrance and find great pocket map with hiking trails, thematic ones, MTB, spots for little kids and more. Free of course. Strange places, last time Ravanca, today Naborjet, free hiking guides, maps, they don't know what parking meters are here velik nasmeh
Up stations of cross to chapel, peek here, peek there, shift to higher gear and puff and snort to the top. Got too carried away, admit. From saddle where you can continue to Stabet, Ukvam and more, turn to peak, from here to there solid snow cover. Since clock struck noon, it was soft, few hours earlier would gladly put on crampons. Reach top and stare as if in heavens. Well, say so, haven't been there and compare from memory velik nasmeh Views truly divine, feeling and mood accordingly, weather gorgeous. Life with biggest "L". Remember this and that, wish for this and that, and already descending. Last sigh over nature beauties and gorgeous views, then to car and end of fairy tale. Nice time nasmeh
