Cima Pisciadu

We did the ascent a few days ago in ideal conditions. On Ferrata Tridentina there wasn't much crowd (probably because it was a workday), and even those dozen slower ones that we overtook well above the waterfall we passed on a slightly easier section before the ascent to T. Exener. The ascent to the summit itself from the hut onwards is not demanding, but since last time we skipped the Boe hut we extended there afterwards. The snow patches (such as they are) are just a pleasant addition. More unpleasant was the crowd ahead of us on the descent via the normal route where it's secured. Obviously many climb to the Pisciadu hut by the lake, who then have trouble on the return.

Exactly a month ago we visited the peaks above Cortina, this time we go for Canezei which impressed us even more with the surroundings. End of August I didn't expect crowds but I was wrong. At 9am we are under Ferrata Tridentina, in the wall already such a crowd that I couldn't make sense of it. Some kids and older folks without experience were causing such jams that there was no fun in the rock. Ferrata nothing special, only in the Exner tower where thank God no kids, one grade harder. At the hut lots of visitors, Pisciadu summit also quite visited. What to say; not for lovers of peace and solitude, views really fantastic.

On Monday I headed to this well-known and very popular ferrata. Since we have accommodation fairly close and the route is known for crowds, I was at the start at the pleasant for us, absolutely too early for Italians 6.30. All the way to Cavazza hut I neither met nor heard a living soul. About the ferrata itself plenty is written, the path is nicely panoramic, pleasantly exposed and just demanding enough not to overpull on the cable, but nice to climb. Of course the picture on return via path 666 was completely different, as usual in Dolomites, all sorts of paragliders on the path. Not to mention how I always marvel at the crowd at the parking lot just before noon and people slowly setting off on the route.

Wonderful ferrata offering exceptional views far around, the hanging bridge at a few hundred meters height is a real attraction.

In the article also some curiosities about climbing this classic among Dolomite ferratas

Pisciadu was a great finale to the week of vacation in Dolomites. Lower parking still closed, working on it, parked by the road, so started and finished at the pass, 8.50€ for parking spot. First down, then a bit up to ferrata entrance. There I grin like a roasted cat, actually grimace, no crowd at all. Sure, Friday relatively early you don't expect it, but you never know. Ferrata wonderful, especially the steepest and most exposed spots, ended clipping/unclipping on cables too soon. Last part of ferrata in pleasant company of two girls ahead, a bit chat about this and that, and we were at the little bridge and exit. They ahead, me to the grass, relive what just climbed. Then poles in hand and whoosh up out, really great day. Past hut a bit down to lake, along it, then over secured threshold, jumps, on to summit. To summit some snow patches, pure joy, not the slightest nuisance, then some puffing here and there and already on top. Views oh and ah, also ah and oh if you look the other way, eye moistens from enchanting vistas. One side Piz Boe, other Sassongher, all around countless mountains, more or less known or unknown. Descent to hut almost casually, further to pass a bit less. Crowd on path, more going up than descending, terrain such you had to watch nothing flies from under feet. At exit, top of scree, bit scrambling, "this suits me", then zigzag a bit alone and more in column to junction, there left slightly up and soon fairy-tale Pisciadu just precious memory nasmeh

Paths and ferrata in perfect condition, same markings and signs.
