Hello, I'm interested which is the closest peak over 3000m to us that isn't snowy in summer so I don't need winter gear, Ankogel? And how long by car from Celje to the starting point, thanks for answers

I was with a group of friends five days ago on Petzec (3284m) from the Debenntal valley via Wangenitzsee hut. From Trojan it took us about 3.5 hours to the starting point. Highly recommend, the summit is snow-free and very easily accessible - ladies' three-thousander, just like Sauleck. Regards

I think it's really Ankogel, and somehow the quickest to reach, since you get to 2600m by gondola. On this link you have prices for the gondola: http://www.ankogel-ski.at/de/sommer/sommertarife/ closed Monday and Tuesday Drive is about 2.5-3 h from Celje.

The easternmost 3000 in the Alps is Gr. Sonnblick (3030m) and it's the eastern neighbor of the very popular mountain Gr. Hafner (3076m). Description on "our" portal Hribi.net and also in the July issue of PV those areas are nicely described. For distances and times ViaMichelin

Two weeks ago I was on Großer Hafner - 3076m. From Karawanken tunnel it's 1 hour drive to Gmünd exit then another approx. half hour along Maltatal valley to Kolnbrein lake at altitude where there's parking. High alpine road is toll. Or you can park approx 6 km lower where there's a smaller parking at 1509 m. I descended that way and it's a much better path to hut Kattowitzer Hütte 2321 m (timewise almost same 2.5 hours but more elevation gain). On the link below I posted a map too so it will help you. Wish you safe steps Lp http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?aut=1&gorovjeid=57&id=1241

Somehow the easiest accessible is really Ankogel. But with stable dry weather, because the summit ridge in wind and verglas becomes quite dangerous. Last year I was at the top early July and during shower ice rain started falling and hurricane wind was blowing. Also Gr. Hafner from Maltatal and Sauleck from Dosnertal are not that demanding (technically easier than Ankogel) but ascents are longer and somewhat more strenuous. For me personally as intro over 3000m the ascent to Ankogel was the best. On the way you have a bit of everything. A little glacier (if you want) and free climbing on the summit ridge.

Ankogel, path passable without winter gear (crosses 1 snowfield), demanding marked path, gondola costs 23 euros (up - down), or you can go on foot from the valley in 7 hours.
