This is hard, especially for relatives and friends who were tied to him and have to live on. Sincere condolences.

Likewise from my side as well, though I didn't know you, I followed your exploits. Once again sincere condolences to all relatives!

Dear BORIS: in vain my eyes search for you, in vain my heart calls you, your loving heart now sleeps, my eyes shed tears. You left me, no more here and realization hurts the heart now, in pain quietly bow my head, with fond thought on you - farewell. Know, in all of us who love you, you will live forever; as you happily knew and thought of you in wide world, will accompany in hearts, warm forever. With love, wife Dragica Anžel

My sincere condolences! Little consolation that he watches over you from somewhere and you'll be together again someday somewhere, while now he's not here to hug you. But still... that's the little spark of hope that makes such things easier to endure.

Thanks. Too bad, because we were looking for one more companion. Otherwise you'd have given up too in these conditions.

On Saturday morning our group of nine set off towards Gran Paradiso. The drive in pleasant company passes quickly and a shop visit in Aosta due to my forgotten poles. We start from Pont to the hut where some familiar faces are already there, arranging the reservation, with luck we got beds in the hut, rich dinner and talk. After breakfast we lounge around, no rush, we knew there was a crowd but we reserved another night for sleeping. So after 9 o'clock we slowly head to the summit, most on touring skis, two on snowshoes which greatly eased our access. A bit before the glacier we take them off and continue with full winter gear. When all gather before the demanding ridge, friend belays and with great joy I hug the statue which I only watched four years ago. We had the mountain to ourselves as the last ones. Slowly safe descent to skis and snowshoes, skiers ski down, we two walkers postholing to the hut, carry snowshoes on backpack. Congrats and hugs in the hut when all gather, analyze and toast nice tour. Sleep another night, morning no rush eat, skiers go over pass to some third valley whooping to car, we two after good hour start slow descent and at 12 meet almost simultaneously in valley...

And let no one claim swallows don't fly high. They do. Congrats to the team.
