Monte Ermada Grmada 323m. Not a high peak on the Italian side above the town of Devin by the sea. Riddled with bunkers and caves. The front line ran there in the First World War. On Saturday 16.3. we set off to this peak with Martin Bizjak, who knows these areas well. We came from different parts of Slovenia. We walked right along the border with our country. Today everything is different. There were no soldiers anywhere, unlike in the past when you weren't allowed to walk there. We viewed two caves on the Italian side that were open. With stalactites inside. Our guide told us one served as a hospital in the First World War. We made a nice loop. Started in Devin. Descended to the village Cergol and via Rilke's path above the sea came to the starting point. Almost 14 km of walking accumulated.
