Hochgall (3436m) is a mountain in the extreme southwestern part of the Hohe Tauern, on the border with Italy, the summit is on the Italian side. I approached it from the village of Rein on the Italian side. To the Kasseler Hutte/Rif. Roma hut it's two hours of easy walking, I slept there. The staff in the hut is friendly, the food tasty. To Graues Nockl, that's the start of the ridge that stretches to the summit, there are two approaches: path no.1 or 8., nicer and shorter is no.8. Both paths have a marked turn-off to the summit, otherwise the path ahead is not marked, the path is partly trodden, cairns help us. The ridge section itself is quite demanding (up to II), on the hardest parts there's a wire cable (short section). From the hut to the summit it's just under four and a half hours. More on the pictures..
