STARTING POINT: biathlon center Obertiliach
Distance of starting point from Ljubljana:
REGIONAL road: Trbiž-Šmohor-Koče Muta-Lesachtal-Obertiliach = 220 km , 3h drive one way
HIGHWAY Trbiž – Lienz – towards Silian – cca. 30km from Lienz turn into Lesachtal valley - over Kartitsch saddle = cca. 300km , 3h drive one way , vignette!
(all from Trbiž because that's where we met. To Lienz from Lj. better through Karavanke, of course)
From P go past biathlon shooting range and over bridge – two bridges, smaller lower and large higher, cca. 100m between them. Direction sign, yellow, right after large bridge. If go over smaller, behind it turn right slightly uphill and soon hit the large one (visible from afar).
ELEVATION GAIN: 930m
ASCENT TIME: 2.5h to 3h
AVALANCHE DANGER (today, official) = 2nd degree
Snow amount:
Cca. 30cm and more at starting point
Cca. 50 cm and more around summit
Entire descent route well covered with snow and allows carefree zigzagging. Ascent through forest to pasture (hut, closed) and then open slopes. Descent to valley under hut not along ascent route, but forest road which you reach right under pasture. Entire tour orientationally completely undemanding, technical difficulty good 2 out of possible 5. Suitable for beginners (official guide)
Snow quality: summit slopes – above pasture - hard, locally icy, on edges and sometimes in middle wind-compacted powder can be found
Below – under pasture - through forest, hard, icy forest road, flies like a mad axe
EQUIPMENT: Skins necessary, warmly recommend well-sharpened edges, helmet below through forest not superfluous. Crampons and ice axe left in car on locals' advice and right it was.

yes, princess had vacation 
Day before, on Saturday, we were on a wonderful hill above Čenta in Italy, it was 12 degrees, short sleeves, we had crazy fun - report on these pages soon

I don't doubt you two had a great time and enjoyed endlessly. Photos are getting nicer too.
But Luna and I wander in nearby mountains. Up to Snežnik is the farthest we go. We find some sun and a bit of snow, just for a taste of winter.
Many more nice hikes in 2013 and safe steps.
