To not open new topics, last weekend we had a small glacier seminar on the glacier below Johannisberg. We slept in the winter room of Oberwalder Hütte (2.997 m) which holds 10 people, but there were 17 of us and we comfortably slept without issues. Weather wonderful, especially on Saturday, on Sunday it blew a bit and clouded over in the afternoon. Walk to the hut about 3 hours, nothing difficult, but they chased us out of the tunnel which is officially closed, so we had to descend to Pasterze and climb back up, which extended the walk by about 2 hours. But on the way back we didn't let them, we descended through the tunnels (they work on Sunday too, and are muddy and full of machines). And I'll add some pictures...

Nice, the title of the post at the top is corrected, but Johannisberg (3463 m) belongs under Hohe Tauern in Austria and not under our Karavanke. I hope the portal editor will move the posts under Hohe Tauern. They were already there and I don't know why they were moved under Karavanke. Johannisberg (3463 m) in guidebooks, 3453 m in maps.

Conditions for hiking ascent excellent. Snow was softened just enough, crampons not needed. Due to strong wind it was damn cold, but visibility fantastic.
