Saturday, 1.8.2020 The peaks are in Austria, so I recorded them in Austria too - I don't know why it says Italy above - but we set off for them from Italy, specifically from Casere Pramosio. Seven years ago I spotted them from the top of Avostanis, later observed them from the top of Crete di Timau, and today the day finally came to visit them. Actually, we both did, as the princess briskly and cheerfully trotted ahead of me. The road to the pasture is quite damaged in places, so take it slow if heading there. From the pasture we headed towards Lake Avostanis, passed the closed Giovanni Morgante hut and nearby Casere Malpasso, and a bit higher turned onto path CAI-448, which soon took us to the Passo Pramosio saddle. Up to there and a bit further, cool shade, then all the way warm, warmer, hot. We didn't get caught in excessive heat, as we started at the right time (7am) and finished the hike before the scorching sun. The pleasant path led us past the hut on Köder Alm pasture towards the summit, the traverses under the ridge above us were long and gentle. Along the path, beside it and across it there were lots of streams flowing, which required careful steps and promised excellent refreshment on the descent. At Köderkopf we stopped at the cross, then stepped onto the side ridge and looked around for the continuation of the path. The nearby Köderhöhe wasn't as close as it seemed, as the path there was hard to follow or almost nonexistent. Among the ruins of the first war, trenches and bunkers, we went by nose, here and there a bit up and down, and managed the direction to the summit quite well. Such grass there that you'd cry with joy if you were a cow or at least a sheep, maybe even a goat, but for us it was enough to lie down instead of sitting for a rest. It felt good, as did the provisions I hauled to the top. The princess dozed off, I reminisced, then we briskly headed down the valley so the heat wouldn't bother us. We trotted down briskly, the princess happily splashed in the streams on and off the path, for me it was enough to cool my overheated forehead with cold water. On the path from the casera to the lake we stepped among people again, a few buondìs, Gruß Gotts and we were already at the car. If there weren't dozens of them at least, I'd have sat in the fresh water fountain, but instead I just freshened up and quenched my thirst and we were already heading home. Great trip to lesser-known and rarely visited peaks, just a stone's throw from the almost impenetrable crowds at casera Pramosio. http://tubojan.blogspot.com/2020/08/koderkopf-koderhohe.html
